He coached at UF, he has had mild success at a lousey school in the worst BCS conference, and many are afraid to be called a racist if they don't root for the black coach.

Jimmy Haslam was already a minority owner in the Steelers when the Browns owners decided to sell. This wasn't an overnight jump to the NFL this year. No dots to connect there.

True, but the basketball program doesn't need to be abandoned and pawned off to UK for the football program to contend for NCs.

Strong hasn't done anything amazing... He's in a bad conference and can't win out. Don't even sell me that he is a good recruiter like all these people claim, they say he has a like, 50th ranked recruiting class because of the conference he's in, if that's the case, why is he being outrecruited by other schools in the exact same conference? Strong may be good, but this is his first 9 win season, he's a risky hire.

It's been the strangest coaching search I can ever remember. Not really enjoying it much after November 18th. It started off so well with his firing but since has been one of those roller coaster rides that make you wanna scream out of joy one minute and barf the next.

You have to remember that Haslam already had a chunk of the steelers; he was already part of the NFL fraternity. When the Browns became available, it makes perfect sence for him to buy them stash their money! He paid a billion for the team. He won't pay taxes on that billion now....ZERO! Just business

I think b-ball will be ok with what we have right now. Lets do something that will fill our 100,000 + seating stadium directly across from it.

Look at the bright side. We won't have to use Google this time. I didn't even know Vince Dooley had a son until we hired him.

The sad thing about Fisher is if he was doing what he should be at FSU, he would not be a candidate at all... Isn't that just effin hilarious.. He's not that good of a coach so Hart brings him here.. FSU now goes out and hires a real coach and wins the BCS in a couple of years..

Should FSU thank us now or later?

The Holy Grail was in our grasps it seemed and we let it go. And even if the rumors were just that, rumors, the UTAD played as large a role in them as did any media outlet or message board.

"We are not actively pursuing Jon Gruden as our next head coach".
How hard is that? Even if you're actively pursuing him with everything you've got, you have to temper expectations on such a big hire such as Gruden, if you don't, you're putting your job in jeopardy.

Exactly. Poorly managed at best. They let the situation (real or not) manage them.

Gruden may still be in play, we should all hope so, cause the next cast of characters that were supposedly interested in is not a reason to celebrate. Rather time to drink ones self into an oblivion and hope UT basketball does something great.

No one wants to play for UL. You act like that's an easy place to recruit.

He'd recruit incredibly well at UT, and he understands what it takes to build a team.

I have a friend in the AD and he says he knows nothing about the coaching search, but he did say that either Cheek or Hart one would be gone by December.TIFWIW

They'll have to answer to a ravenous fan base. Or perhaps the statement will come in many more empty seats. Hit the bottom line and change will occur.
