No one wants to play for UL. You act like that's an easy place to recruit.

He'd recruit incredibly well at UT, and he understands what it takes to build a team.

...And they want to play at Rutgers, Cincy, UConn, Temple, Pittsburgh, South Florida? Because they're in the same conference as him and they are definitely out recruiting him.

The sad thing about Fisher is if he was doing what he should be at FSU, he would not be a candidate at all... Isn't that just effin hilarious.. He's not that good of a coach so Hart brings him here.. FSU now goes out and hires a real coach and wins the BCS in a couple of years..

Should FSU thank us now or later?

Thank you

This may still be in play but just not with who we thought.

Gundy.

UofL was #76 in recruiting in 2009, per Rivals. Strong arrived after the season and closed to the #48 class in 2010. His first full class in 2011 was #29 when he got Bridgewater. Now, he's #73. It's possible that his recruiting is slipping, because people expect him to leave, or it could simply be a case of how many open spots they have on the roster.

Strong is 10-2 this season because of a great QB which he did recruit. The 2 years before....7-6 & 7-6. Thats not impressive to me. After conceding his QB recruit, now it must be noted that he got most likely the top QB in the big east. If he can recruit the best QB in the sec against the best colleges in the country and the absolute biggest names in the biz the i'm all in. But that aint gonna happen. Lets call it what it is......settling for second best. This guy will consistently give us a middle of the road recruiting class. Im just saying he's mediocre. He's better than me, but thats not saying much.

Honest to God you wouldnt be upset with Strong after being tempted with gruden, stoops, and even fisher. I would. Why is he suddenly so great? Please explain what is the draw to hire strong?

You know, you are right. I would be upset. Of all the coaches that I have heard mentioned over the past two weeks I can only think of three that would make me happy in this order: Gruden, Stoops, Patterson.

But, realistically, I don't see any of those three coming, and of the others, like Fedora, Golden, Fisher, Petrino, Franklin, etc., then I'd probably go with Strong then Fisher.

I am tired and probably not making much sense. This whole coaching search has drained me of common sense and ability to think straight.

They'll have to answer to a ravenous fan base. Or perhaps the statement will come in many more empty seats. Hit the bottom line and change will occur.

I hope the fan base is ravenous. Seems like they are already rationalizing these mediocre options but I don't fully blame them with the choices that have been put out there

I have a friend in the AD and he says he knows nothing about the coaching search, but he did say that either Cheek or Hart one would be gone by December.TIFWIW

so gruden deal was close hart cockblocked to bring in smart maybe and the boosters got pissed pressured to get him axed and now we need a coach and AD unless they are just gonna let JG have his control and the new AD Blackburn controls all other sports.....:ermm:

That's what it seems like doesn't it? I'm betting he's soon seen differently.

And someone commenting on it looks like Fisher:

You are right....except it's not Jimbo!

Can we look at what happened in recruiting in years past? It isn't that bleak.

What I'm getting at is, he may very well be a good coach, but as of right now, he hasn't had enough success outside of this year for a program like Tennessee which is in such a fragile state to make a gamble on.

What was the comment about Hart? Baby is being kind of cryptic tonight.

Just a thought here:

Think about this angle for a minute. The deal with Gruden was done and agreed to in principal through the big money guys. When they sat down and laid it all out for Hart, he got the red a$$ about something whether it was a control issue or the fact that he was not involved in the dealings which could be were the Thursdays blow up that others talked about happening originated.

This leads to Hart raising a little stink and the money guys appease him by letting him do a “coaching search” and interview possible candidates for the job with the understanding that he brings his top candidate to the table and the money guys bring Gruden with the best option and deal for UT being the choice.

This would explain the announcement by his agent and the AD that Gruden was off the table because a true and fair coaching search could not happen if every available candidate that Hart would want to interview thought the job was Gruden’s before they interviewed.

I may be way off base with this thought and a thought is all it is. I just can’t see that UT and the money guys are going to trust the next 4 or 5 years and the future of the football program to the names that have been listed as possible hires.
