so gruden deal was close hart cockblocked to bring in smart maybe and the boosters got pissed pressured to get him axed and now we need a coach and AD unless they are just gonna let JG have his control and the new AD Blackburn controls all other sports.....:ermm:

My friend said this about Cheek and Hart before Dooley was ever fired. Apparently, cheek and hart don't like one another

Top paid coaches:
Mack brown
Nick saban
Les myles
Urban meyer
Bob stoops
See any common thread for success.
Get the big name by flashin the cash.....plain and simple.
Get big name...get the big recruits.
Get big recruits....go to big bowl game.
Go to big bowl game....make more money to recover coach salary.
Its not rocket science. Any coach can be had if the money is right.

Just a thought here:

Think about this angle for a minute. The deal with Gruden was done and agreed to in principal through the big money guys. When they sat down and laid it all out for Hart, he got the red a$$ about something whether it was a control issue or the fact that he was not involved in the dealings which could be were the Thursdays blow up that others talked about happening originated.

This leads to Hart raising a little stink and the money guys appease him by letting him do a “coaching search” and interview possible candidates for the job with the understanding that he brings his top candidate to the table and the money guys bring Gruden with the best option and deal for UT being the choice.

This would explain the announcement by his agent and the AD that Gruden was off the table because a true and fair coaching search could not happen if every available candidate that Hart would want to interview thought the job was Gruden’s before they interviewed.

I may be way off base with this thought and a thought is all it is. I just can’t see that UT and the money guys are going to trust the next 4 or 5 years and the future of the football program to the names that have been listed as possible hires.

Makes sense to cover all bases especially if the talks with JG were started before DD got let go. Would also explain the nothingness of the last two weeks without a coach search then when it seemed the story was about to break it was nixed and now we are interviewing other candidates...

Holy ****... ESPN is saying that Paul Horning was a joke and Johnny Majors should have won the Heisman that year... Gruden is definitely coming.

They'll have to answer to a ravenous fan base. Or perhaps the statement will come in many more empty seats. Hit the bottom line and change will occur.

I think this year's results in the stands (financially) may have surprised them more than some will admit. While I believe the midtier donor/ticketholders (2-4 seats) will hold somewhat steady (I plan on keeping my tickets ... I go to support the atheletes and not the coaches, per se). I think the renewal of the high money skyboxes will take a hit along with the single game ticket sales, if they don't get it right. If they are not caeful, they'll dig a hole that will not be easily filled.

I don't post irrational drivel. I could be wrong in my assumptions. I'm human, and I'm prone to being blinded by my biases, however, I've posted a big summation of the things I've posted in this last thread here, applying my own and others' thoughts (similar to mine) in the belief that we're all being played by the powers at hand here. If you guys get a chance, please read it. It's long (very long, I warn you), and I fault no one for disagreeing with me. As I said, it's mostly my opinion and take on the matter. But it's the closest thing I can come up with mixing factual reporting with common sense on the issue.

I read a post by you earlier today(maybe the short version) and I gave you like! I'll read this long version tomorrow

Maybe we should bring back the women's AD and let her run the AD. She may have more sense than what Hart is looking like. I'm going to be pissed if this coaching search is to pay in favor of certain agents or that Hart is putting in place his own version of "good ole boys" at UT.

So if Hart goes to Jimbo and gets rejected, should we go nuclear on Hart? Or is this part of the smokescreen?

I decided after the Vandy game that I would be nuclear angry with Hart if it turned out we didn't have Gruden. Hart owns that Vandy game as much as anyone. If you believe Hubbs, then Hart privately fired Dooley and then trotted him out as a lame duck to face a team hungry for revenge blood.

Think about how you felt watching the Vandy game. Gruden's not coming. Nuclear mad at Hart now?

I'm not sitting here throwing things, but I'm not going to blindly follow the program. I hope things change for the better.

Soon (lol).

If I had a Veto for the apparent candidate list, I would use it on Butch Jones. His entire HC career has been to follow Brian Kelly. He took over at CMU after Kelly left for Cincy, and he took over at Cincy after Kelly left for ND. If he comes here, he won't be walking into a roster built by Kelly that's been contending for league titles. And, he was creamed by Dooley in 2011.

He was hired by Mike Thomas while Thomas was still at Cincinnati. I have this positive to say about Jones, at least he isn't Tim Beckman. :dance2:

Lol... I would laugh my ass off if all of this was a combo ploy to smear the Knoxville news because either the AD or parties involved have had issues with them, so they smoke screen them and make them look retarded with all these reports getting refuted and shown to be false.

Strong hasn't done anything amazing... He's in a bad conference and can't win out. Don't even sell me that he is a good recruiter like all these people claim, they say he has a like, 50th ranked recruiting class because of the conference he's in, if that's the case, why is he being outrecruited by other schools in the exact same conference? Strong may be good, but this is his first 9 win season, he's a risky hire.

Not a Strong guy, but it's worth pointing out that the coaches with the lowest # of commitments tend to be the ones that aren't sure to be back. Charlie has 9 (as of 2 days ago). You'll see that among the top 20-30 classes, this holds true also: Chip Kelly, Bob Stoops, etc.... Always lets you know who's in play. Not saying they're sure to leave, but it's a good indicator.
