Sorry, I am just not buying that Strong is a good coach.

Dave Hart IMO should be fired. All this Gruden stuff is really disappointing. It was very obvious who the fan base wanted and that base is who really pays the bills.

If this is all we can get who wants "to come here," we aren't opening our wallets enough. This program has top-tier facilities and tradition. The only thing that is holding us back is our administration's belief that they can plug some sub $2 million guy in there and get the same results as programs paying $5+ million.

If you want to run with the big dogs, you better learn to p!ss in high weeds.

If you look, you can easily find multiple interviews and articles where Strong used racism as his excuse.

Doesn't matter who the fanbase wants if that candidate doesn't want the job. Outside one Chattanooga article with questionable sources (IMO), no one seems to think he wants to be here. I agree at this point.

It should tell people something that Jeremy Foley (Florida AD, one of the best in the business) saw Strong up close and passed on him.

That's what I'm saying, why do we care about how they do at press conferences? As long as they can coach players how to win championships. They can sound like this for all I care " Weez mus winz de footsballz gamz ever week". Just win baby

First off I want JG here 100% and am so excited about the possibility. Could it be that JG said he had interest during casual conversation and once UT approached him he realized he backed himself in a corner and made his demands so high that UT couldnt meet them so it gave him an out. Again I think he could recruit like a rockstar but that may not translate to wins in the meatgrinder we call the SEC.

If Money is the only reason a candidate wants to come here, then I am out on that candidate. I want a coach that wants to be here, and I thought that was Gruden for a long time. Now it is apparent to me I was wrong, he "entertained" the idea maybe, but in the end he somewhat used us to advance his real agenda which is squeezing as much money out of whichever NFL team he ends up coaching next year.

Yeah, he didn't really want to be here, he was just inquiring about potential staff assistants for the fun of it.

FYI:

Gundy, Strong, Fisher have multi million dollar buy-outs!!!

The money for any of those buyouts would necessarily come from UT.

Not that Gruden is coming but that money could have been used to pay to offset the large $$$ figure Gruden wanted for his staff that UT did not want pay (if the deal went south because of assistant pay).

I disagree with him being the best choice. I hate to make comparison and not saying I want Franklin but what he is doing is a good recruiting job. Strong recruited well at UF, who hasnt? Like I said before he has done a solid job at louisville but shouldnt top the list imo.

Exactly. Anybody that thinks that Jeremy Foley would pass on somebody because of their race or anything like that is crazy.

Foley is as good as they come and if he didn't want Strong, there is a reason.

It will be an unfortunate hire if it is Strong.

I think we have to face the fact that there just isn't a pool of candidates that represent what we need right now. There are a lot of guys that will do OK.

Anybody who thinks that the fanbase will unite around Strong is wrong though.

There will be division from the very beginning.

In the end no he didn't. He contacted assistants to gauge what sort of package he would need if he decided to come here imo. A lot of unanswered questions, but the only one I care about is "Are you UT's next HC" and for me the answer is a certain no.

Ok time for me to head out again for the day, just wanted to say hey to a couple this morning and made the mistake of answering a question lol. I wont piss on your parade anymore, its just amazing how many people still believe this is some sort of grassy knoll cover up.

I based my beliefs on Gruden on tangible info, much of it incorrect. I am only stating an educated opinion here.
