Let’s look at this from a strictly business standpoint. I am going to use a 5 year contract for each coach. I will use Patrick’s numbers with the exception that I added to Gruden’s.

Gruden 6 mil + 5 mil for staff total 11 million

Gundy 4 mil + 3.5 mil for staff + 600K for buyout (divided buyout by 5 years) total 8.1

Strong 3 mil + 3 mil for staff = 500k buyout 6.5 million


Here is the question is Gruden and staff worth the difference? Would you pay Gruden 3 million more than Gundy? What about 4.5 million more than Strong?

Would Gruden make this difference up or exceed it with ticket sales, advertising (how much TV time. There is a marketing formula for this) , donations, clothing sales, etc.

What do you think?

I'm glad other people are saying they are getting data base errors, because I thought someone had been announced and I was the only one that couldn't get in!!

UT either has there man or AD (Hart) has completely messed this coaching search up and gone FUBAR. Almost all other coaches have taken a job or staying where they are, or just playing other schools for more money.

I haven't heard that since high school!! We used it all the time back then! Gotta be somebody upper 30's to 40ish!

Looks like Fisher is out...

Hart's two top assistants are on Tennessee's campus and Tennessee hasn't been to see Fisher. I mentioned earlier in a post that something seemed a missed with Fisher. The FSU people have said for two days fisher wasn't leaving. Still digging but it looks like no interview is going to happen.

Hart and company are seriously UNDERESTIMATING our fan base if they don't think Gruden would generate 10 times more revenue than any other candidate PERIOD!!The orange and white game only would make more money in 1 year than it's made in the last 5 and thats probably a conservative estimate. maybe they can't see the forest for the trees or they are just plain frekin inept!! GO VOLS GET IT RIGHT!!:rock:

What coaches have taken other jobs (coaches that we would want)?


I dont think Tennessee has missed out on anybody yet, except Gruden.

I must be old because I know what this meant, but didn't correctly know what fyp meant until recently. Thought the f was something other than "fixed your post."

with the time spent as reported at Gundys home, they said UT was there for several hours. I would bet they made him a offer. Now he might be playing UT for more money were he is at with that being said
