I am not sure if it was agents or the AD. This was never going to happen. I am sticking to my guns. I'll go down with it too.

i've been openly critical of "insiders" but i give you credit for going down with the ship.

not only and i rooting for gruden but im rooting for you haha

Extremely bad form.

A coaching hire is suspected, & of a guy chestnuts deep in a child sex story and then a picture of our QB as an 8 year old boy with him is posted....My comment was mild in contrast to what will come from Volnation if they Trot this guy into Neyland.

Either this is the worst coaching search in college football history, or someone who didn't get what they wanted leaked this as revenge. Since Currie hasn't even released a statement saying Schiano was never considered leaves me to believe it is the former. Now we will scramble and hire Bobo (or similar) and fans are supposed to be happy about that. Sad, very sad as this did not have to happen.

I wonder what the osu boards looked like when they brought him on.. apparently it's something new to herbstreit. He thinks Vol fans are mad we r hiring someone with his record or something. Never mentioned his Sandusky ties.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I have not been trolled.

I have spoken with

Edit: accidentally hit reply, will have to retype.

I spoke with one of my two contacts after the Schiano nonsense broke. This person is still in on Gruden, and had warned me that info from AD would be misdirection, but was absolutely furious that Schiano's name was used for this purpose. It was out of left field for my person, and the response to Schiano has been almost universally negative, internally.

What I think (OPINION) happened goes something like this. Someone decided that in an effort to make Currie's last minute reveal of Gruden a superheroic "Currie saved us" moment, that Schiano would be a good name to use for that purpose. Horrible decision. His name has no business anywhere near this University. Even the inevitable backtracking makes us look bad: "Schiano decides he doesn't want to coach for us because of our fans."

Horribly conceived and executed misdirect, IMO. Whoever came up with it should be ashamed. And the people making the decisions need to seriously stop worrying about John Currie's image and get on with business.

Is the entire "Schiano is scared to come here" stuff true or just the media backpedaling since it was all BS to begin with?

It definitely looks like Schiano had an offer. Gruden wasn't in play. The Schiano deal may fall through(GOOD!), but who does Currie turn to now? Yikes.
