Just speculating, but with people like the Haslams, it's about one thing and one thing only: POWER. It's not about anything other than wanting people to kiss their ring. They got Davenport in their pocket, then Currie. When challenged by others, they outmaneuvered them and maintained their power (up until now). Gruden was wanting them to relinquish some of their power, so he had to be eliminated.
How's that? Hope Beav is right and this is the nail in the coffin of the Haslem's control of UT athletics.
I honestly don't know but I know we have a lot of angry people. This whole subject is like the third rail, you just don't go near it. These fools in the media saying we messed up will get destroyed if more comes out about this and Schiano gets more dirt reveled. Because now people are going to start asking questions. With the title 9 settlement how could we get within 100 miles of this guy.
And the good list bull ****.
Lets not forget that.
I apologize for that too

It looks to me like The House of Haslam went off the reservation and made a move on their own with the Schiano attempt. Currie simply did their bidding out of the eye of the other big $ money boosters.
I would venture to say that this was a power play made by the House of Haslam that has actually backfired in a tremendous and unexpected way. This almost hire can only be traced to the Haslams as Jimmy Haslam wanted to hire Schiano at the Brown's almost three years ago.
They should not be allowed to get away from this. This shows how inept the House of Haslam is at sports. Haslam should be required to dish out the money that Schiano is now claiming that he is owed.
Haslam Haslam Haslam.
Screw them!
The Haslams have run UT for years. They want to retain their power. Currie was their hire. Currie was just a pawn PIO for the Haslams. Currie will fall on the sword and the Haslams will continue on.
T-DAY
"Good evening. Over the last several hours Vols fans joined others from around the world. And we launched the largest Volnation retaliation in Vols History! Volnation. That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We cant be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps its fate that today came after an embarrassing loss to Vandy, and we were once fighting for our program Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist and to thrive again in the SEC East. And should we get a coach worthy of wearing the Power T. This day will be remembered. It was this day Vols fans every where declared, We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! Were going to live on! Were going to survive! Today we celebrate T Day!
As someone who works public opinion manipulation on a grand scale. I will say this was a masterful play by Sexton. Now we have to weather the storm created by this. He is doing a masterful job with the media turning public opinion against us while making it look like we were targeting one of his lower level clients. Calm your tits people. He just united the fan base on a scale I never thought was possible. Unfortunately it is now us against the CFB world. Hold the line.
