Well now we know. Currie IS an incompetent little dweeb who has no f'ing clue. Schiano? Man we are screwed. I think Schiano may be a decent coach actually and not the worst choice in the world...but with the stain of the Penn State stuff...and not realizing how outraged this fanbase would be? Not to mention state legislators etc.?

Currie? Now we know...and it's deflating that this idiot is the AD.

You failed to mention the $20 million buyout/contract. Who in their right mind would even contemplate such a thing. Who was beating down his door to hire him?

Haslam vs all the other boosters. While Haslam is the big donor if all the others revolt and threaten to close the wallet the brakes got pumped.

I can only hope this is the beginning of the end of the Haslam stranglehold in this University.

I'm afraid as long as the Haslams keep flowing money into the University, very few changes will be made.

🐑 sheep 🐑. Dude these guys here just feed off other garbage that people post and try and make it real, our ad tried to hire Shiano which got boot stomped. Gruden wasn’t ever in the picture period. Yet these guys just say gtfo when someone post common sense in here. Sucks cause if they would use all this energy to actually do something other than spend their days In this thread , we might actually could get something done with a Real coach.....

Let’s redirect everyone’s energy towards Mike Leach to get him hired. I think, at this point, he’s our best shot!

So How does this work? Do we all have to think about it really really hard to make it happen or what?

My faith is slowly deteriorating.

Currie said do not listen to anyone about the next coach of Tennessee unless it comes directly from him.

Did he lie? Should we have faith in him to deliver? Or will the next head coach be underwhelming because of this fiasco?

It’s suspicious that he has not commented on this today.
It’s not suspicious at all. He thought he would force feed this hire and we would deal with it. Now he’s trying to figure out how to sneak out in the night.

Who approved the Schiano hire? Currie, Davenport, BOT, Fulmer, Peyton...

Time to figure out who EXACTLY signed off on this. It's my understanding that the Board of Trustees has to approve a head coaching hire. I'm assuming Davenport or several others coulda said no... why didn't they? This is the real story folks. Is there a power struggle going on? Someone go "cowboy" and made a move without permission?

So you'd rather have Brohm? Okay we all know he can lose. Tee could win or lose. Not my first choice I'd get Matt Campbell now! Or even Norvell its not gonna be the best of the best after today u get who u can

I cannot concede to that line of defeatist thinking.
I would never agree to getting who we “can”.
That’s what got us where we are.
If we can’t find a coach on short order ( throw the checkbook at Kiffin who couldn’t care less about the public opinion polls, or similar) then keep hoke or shoop as an interim, and take time to make a better hire.
Don’t just fill the spot with a warm body.

What are you talking about? I’m a fan, didn’t claim to know anything. You are the phony and everyone knows now. Go home dude

Personally I'd rather listen to him then a bunch of b!tches showing up at the 11th hour to hurl insults and say I told you so...

I think it was pretty well reported that Haslam directed Currie's hiring. There is also known and documented history of Haslam wanting to hire Schiano to the Browns a few years ago. I think those facts probably shift the burden of persuasion. That said, the Haslam family has done a lot for UTK and I'm sure that their input is well intentioned and not, as has been suggested, a brutish exercise of raw power. What we need is an AD who can help Mr. Haslam and other people be better helpers. I'm trying to assume the best about some charitable people and hope I don't get blasted.

^A very perspicacious way of evaluating this.

It's over. IT'S OVER. I don't need to see any posts about Gruden and his MOU or contract which I one billion percent believe never existed.

Now we are the punching bag for all the national media who said Tennessee isn't an elite job. They obvs are right.

Sickening.

Why Tee?
What has he accomplished?
He is simply a nostalgia hire!
I genuinely do not understand the fascination with him

It’s not fascination at this point. It’s what the heck are we gonna do. It’s gonna be really tough to find anyone willing to take the job now. A VFL might be our only choice.

I believe your frustration /anger is being misdirected.

Self-reflection is your friend.

Anymore name calling in this thread by either side and people are getting a vacation. Things are bad enough without having to deal with folks having a total disregard for the rules.

That includes GTFO and GFY.

Lol, hope I didn't let any fighting words slip, I'm just now seeing this. :)

To try to add some levity to the situation, the wrestling fans in this thread have to agree that this is our Montreal Screwjob. Currie is Vince. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least for him to say, “Volnation screwed Volnation.”

To another point, there have been some genuinely good people post their information in these threads. I’m sure they largely meant well. I have a strong hunch that this wasn’t the plan that everyone had heard about. The other could have been a distraction to keep eyes away from Shiano, I do not know. I hope I wake up to the news that Currie is gone and Blackburn or Fulmer are the new athletic directors.

She does actually. What does that have to do with anything?

You come in here trying to pick a fight. As if someone owes you something. Again, you’re not that important. You read info, process it then decide if you will believe it. What’s sad is you apparently few more betrayed by random posters than by an AD who actually did betray you. Go home.

I am home. I don’t feel betrayed. Just stating the facts. We were played.

I'm not invested in the gruden bs. All these "insiders" are fake. Only posted tonight because I'm tired of seeing people spreading straight bs tell others to "gtfo".
And out of all the ways to a avoid seeing the "bs" you chose "stay in the Gruden thread, when I could go to the other threads"... Again knuck and those guys gave info knowing people like you were lurking in the dark waiting to pounce.. To bad there isn't another thread for people that don't believe in or want to hear about Gruden...maybe all of us gruden people should stop going to the other threads and freaking out on everyone not pro gruden.. Carry on.. Just waiting for you to go back into the dark

Poor student-athletes have to watch this so-called adult behavior. Way to lead our next generation. Oh just stand around and bi*ch or type your disappointment. Unite and hit 'em in the pocketbook. Haslam don't care about football....look at the Browns. He's a control freak that has no business involved in UT athletics. He's a sick individual and I rarely judge others.

I think you are correct. I believe the other power boosters expected the Haslam camp to attempt to pull this off and that camp did not disappoint. They had no intent to relinquish any of their power.
I for one do not think this kills the chances for Gruden at all. If any thing, it makes a stronger case for us to get him if we get the Haslam puppets out of the way.
A lot of people have accused Gruden of trolling us but I have seen no evidence of that at all. Still believe he actually does want to come here.
I would really like to know details of the BOT meeting a couple of weeks ago and what was agreed to or signed off on and how that aligns with the current storm.

In order for the Haslams to be displaced, Davenport has to go with Currie, or she has to switch camps (which she may do to save her job).

I've shared all I can, some would say too much. :) There is no chance I misunderstood. I think Boomer vol indicated he had been told "former Tampa Bay coach," but that is not what was conveyed to me.

I believe what I was told, that Gruden signed on the 14th. Whatever happens in the future with our coach and our program, I believe that event took place.

No kidding.

I get along with guys pretty well, but it's very revealing when the worst insults are words linked to women.

It's just a guy thing...not saying it's right. Think about it like this, when you and your girl friends get together and talk, it's the equivalent of calling another woman a dirty, hairy, caveman with a tiny weewee. That's the best I got. :)

"Worse? How could it get any worse? Take a look around you Ellen. We're at the threshold of hell!"

Hey. If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like John Currie, my AD, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there in Sequoyah Hills with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, ****less, hopeless, heartless, fat-***, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is. Hallelujah. Holy ****. Where's the Tylenol?
