The Rock should read...

Haslam loves pedo enabling coach, hates UT. #boycottPilot

Haven't lived in TN since early 90's, been in NC, was fishing out of Southport and made the mistake of looking at my phone to get VN fix when all this went down. Headed in early, started listening to WKGN (first time) just to hear what people were saying and I was fuming. Needed gas and got off I-40 and the first station was a damn Pilot and said F that **** and went elsewhere.

The fact that someone at UT also thought that it was a good idea to not issue any form of statement this evening is mind boggling. How seriously ignorant are they? I mean for goodness sake, you have to at least call the fire department when the house is burning down. At this point I hope that the entire AD is purged. We'll recover in 3 or 4 years. If Penn State can over come what they did and Bama can over come their coach getting caught with hookers on a recruiting trip, we will eventually get past this.

Now that I'm slightly more clear headed (still angered) I wonder if...

Being that the public backlash over this (close to) hire was so immediate and swift AND politicians were getting involved, I wonder if Joe DiPietro wasn't quietly "requested" by some high level folks to instruct Currie to keep his mouth shut. Basically "anything he says can and will make this situation even worse" kind of reasoning.

Currie has been tight lipped the whole time. But it's not beyond the realm of possibility a gag order was implemented to keep him from making the situation worse.

Not arguing with a VOL fan either, but I see no way Currie is employed long enough to make this hire. He blew it in epic fashion and he must go. He is not competent to make the hire. He did real damage today.

It's a lot harder to fire someone, these days, than I think people realize. Will he be reprimanded? Absolutely! But fired, I highly doubt it.

Hey, I could be wrong (and I wouldn't be disappointed in the least, if I was).

One thing is for sure;

Today proves that VolNation and all the VFL's have a voice! I'm so grateful to be a part of this awesome family!

From day 1, I’ve been consistent in saying Gruden was coming and that it was a matter of timing. I’m man enough to admit my info was wrong and I cannot make sense of any of this, so I won’t attempt to connect all the dots of the last 24 hours.

I never stated that a contract was signed, and have remained skeptical toward those who claim that happened and gave a date. But I was given (from very trustworthy people) info that gave me extreme confidence this was happening. I’ve stated my connection (married into a prominent UT family you’re all familiar with) and I am just as dumbfounded as many on here. I apologize to those whom I misled. In the future, I will be much more hesitant to post what I hear, but I was simply trying to pass along what I believed to be true information.

Appreciate the apology but not necessary. What some people cannot understand is that everyone who shares info that does not come true are NOT trolls. Only those who do it to mislead are.

How do your in-laws feel now? Can you ask them what we can do to help fix this?

Beaver is 100% correct. UT football and Haslam can no longer coexist. Blackburn will pour his sole into turning this around.

Screw the Currie Neyland renovation. Use that committed money to offset Haslam.

Beaver is a troll that knows just as much as you do. Real talk. Wake up. He never did and does not know anything.

Let me help my fellow Vol brethren. Don't listen to them if you don't buy what they are selling. It's simple.

I wanted to believe them and it all sounded plausible. I do however fault all of them for their fake news and trying to inflate their e-cred when they knew all along they had nothing.

Someone knew this schiano stuff was coming. IMO that’s what the article came out this morning about Gruden.

I’m sure I’m wrong. Hell we all are right now!

Interesting that Brent Hubbs has remained silent through all of this on Twitter...

Has he reported anything that occurred today?

I still think this is a misdirection. Probably didn’t think this would be the backlash.

Good God Almighty; there is no misdirection. Because that would somehow make Currie even dumber than he already looks.

Some are saying Davenport was the one who formally stopped the hire. If so, although it had to be done, at least she followed through with it and didn't play puppet to Jim. I don't think she's the issue here.

she is anti football imo. We have been gutted of vfls and now have no one with any leverage to turn this ship around. Need a miracle and maybe a surpsise peyton and phil media campaign to put some pressure.

Many of you won't care, but this is the latest from Beaver:

The call for fundraising should trouble everyone here. If Beaver is truly Ergen's man, he should welcome and applaud the exit of Haslam--not request more funds from others.

No, but many are lumping her into the same bucket as Haslam/Currie. Point is, she could have been complicit but wasn't. Folks should focus energy on the right enemies.

She couldn't be complicit with the deluge upon her. Without that deluge, you can bet your bottom dollar that Tennessee would have a Coach Greg Schiano right now.

The only thing I don’t understand is how the Haslems are so power hungry they are willing to hire Schiano and run the programs reputation in the ground with him being associated with Penn State and what not. It just makes zero sense. If one side of boosters is working on Gruden and he is interested, why not step aside and let him coach? It’s mind numbing. All that money and no common sense.

Anyone been able to separate the pretenders from the contenders as far as those that have real inside information on VN? Would like to know who called the Schiano hire and who kept telling us Gruden was a done deal.

Anyone know how much the Haslams actually contribute to the program? Let's say it's $5M. Neyland fills up 102455 for home games (mostly Vols), and many more (conservative estimated 2M) give a hoot about the program. If everyone gave an average of an extra $5, could we force Jim out? Could we crowdfund our way to victory? It's not a completely far-fetched idea. Based on the passion displayed tonight, it's a flat-our incredibly plausible idea.

The Haslam's have contributed closer to 50 times your 5,000,000 number to the University, their contributions are beyond athletics. They gave around 50 million dollars in 2006-2007 alone. There's a reason the business school is named after them.
