Do you not realize what happened today? We’re not getting anyone who doesn’t come here for a huge raise or because they love UT and what it used to stand for.

All those would be a huge raise
Coaches will come here just like before but let's be honest there is something that turns coaches off from Tn.
Has to be the way its handled when interviewed they must know boosters say who's hired or not.
I had little faith in Currie but had faith in staff around him but at this point you have to go with a guy who will get a good raise which is why I say cambell

We know there was mutual interest between Gruden and Tennessee. I just cannot believe Gruden would troll this fan base the way he did on the Seattle radio interview and on other occasions if he didn't want the job.

And as recently as this morning, CBS Sports reported UT was talking to Gruden. CBS isn't some fly-by-night media company. Their info should've been solid.

But obviously Gruden is off the table or Schiano would've never been offered. How the hell did we go from Gruden to Schiano?? Ah, the million dollar question. :(

Maybe the insiders were just told that we were getting the former coach of Tampa Bay and assumed that meant Gruden...

I don't always agree with the information you bring here, but at least you do it with a level of professionalism and maturity that is to be expected. A few more could probably learn from you.

Out of curiosity, why would you expect professionalism from posters on an anonymous message board on the internet? Or maturity for that matter?

Yes I knew all of that and stand by what I said, I don’t care how many millions they donate.
The Vols of the last 20 years and the Browns after he bought them proves it. It’s fact .

How do you explain the Vols before the last 10 years? Because 20 years ago things were going pretty well. They have been huge boosters with major influence during the highs too. Who do you think allowed Johnny to be forced out and got Phil hired?

The Browns have had 2 winning seasons in the last 19 years. The Haslam's have owned them for 4 and a half seasons.

I think the powers that be has seen how loud the voice of this fan base is and the passion they have for this university and this football program. I know JG loves TN football. Hopefully he sees that we are reeling somewhat and come in be the hero and save the day. I'm still all in on Gruden and won't give up. I work for a retailer that has many big money boosters and higher ups in the AD department. Many of them shop there on Sundays after church and today was one of the deadest days I can ever recall. It was eerily silent. Not really trying to make a point just got off work and trying to catch up on everything. I love the Vols and this forum. Thanks to all the positive thoughts and prayers for my wife. She had one of her better days today! GBO!

Barring any crazy influence from a family we know and love, who in your opinion would be in line to act as interim AD when Currie gets removed?

Fulmer, it was a set up, advised curry to hire schiano so he could step in and save the vols,
Johnny Majors

Call me crazy but maybe Gruden didn't want to work for/with Currie no matter how much you paid him.
Or maybe it's that intangibles > money when a lot of these guys are making decisions. For whatever reason, a lot of coaches appear to not like the intangibles at Tennessee right now. It's up to the administration to realize that and do something about it. Throwing money at the problem will not fix it.. it's a cultural issue.

Glad to hear it. Pass our thoughts on to her please.

Welcome to this thing we call the real world. If you're laying out a quarter of a billion dollars to any cause, your voice will be heard. There's not dirty politics about it. The narrative that the family who has given massively to the University has these evil plans to keep football awful is, frankly, insane.

Plenty of boosters that have money, just because a man donates money shouldn't make him the ruler of all things UT. I could care less how much money he gives if he is trying have a monopoly on everything. The University is bigger than one man, even Jimmy Haslem. He isn't the President, and he should not be in control of every call. Heck his decision making skills are CRAP just like his BROWNS. Good grief he could donate 200 BILLION and it still don't make him a good decision maker. Haslam needs to get out of UT and go DESTROY the Browns with all his money, it hasn't did Cleveland one bit of good and it sure as heck isn't helping UT either. Tennessee can get donors, we need competence and that is in short supply to a few in total power. It has to be STOPPED.

I believe that Gruden did get an offer. To much smoke for that to not have happened and he said no. Mullen was next and he was taking the Florida job. Frost is going to Nebraska. Then Currie panicked and that is how we ended up where we are at now. No clue who is next or will want to be a part of this mess.

I'm still holding on to hope that it's still going to be Gruden because really who else is there? Either we go mid-major and stay where we are or go big and rise back to our rightful place. I am not ready to settle and take Vandy's place at the bottom of the SEC.

I really wish more people would respect and appreciate this family. They have done more for the University than nearly anyone else, in history.

I do not think people are unappreciative of their donations. It's the way they have apparently tried to use their power to their own benefit...i.e...the Tennessee Screwjob.
