Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIII

A simple google search should have disqualified Schiano. It’s not like this wasn’t in the Washington Post...a national newspaper.

If Schiano and Currie are friends as reported, then Currie knew what his baggage was and either didn't care or thought Vol Nation wouldn't care...or both! Regardless, the history was known and over looked!

F the national media. Whomever we hire, whatever the fallout, UT as an institution should never allow any of these people on campus. Don't care if Gameday comes, Herby shouldn't be allowed on campus. F Dan Wetzel, and so so many others. The list is too long.

Agree.

I don't usually want to get too political, but this sports media virtue-signaling bullsh*t is the same thing going on with the regular media. These people are either willfully trying to turn our morals and culture upside down or ignorantly stumbling about and accomplishing the same thing.

Kirk Herbstreit, Wetzel- those guys are part of a dying machine, and yesterday shone the light on why that is the case. Even ignoring the atrocities that Schiano supposedly witnessed and ignored, the man is known as an abusive, dirty, and manipulative human being. How can they cover for that?

Not the Monday any of us wanted either.

Though I'm still happy about Volnation standing up as one united voice in the wake of what could have happened yesterday.

Yesterday reminded me on a much smaller scale of how Nashville and Gatlingburg responded to the natural disasters that him them. We rallied together as one, refusing the need to whine or complain and said if it’s going to happen, it starts with me. And a lot of me’s formed a we and grew louder than ever. Was a proud day to be a Vol although our admin doesn’t feel the same.

Where does the problem lie, Tennessee has failed in its last two football searches and was a social media protest away from making its worse to date. Some will say Kiffen was a bad hire also, but we were able at that time to get someone considered high profile. LWS said he didn't have confidence in this admin to make a good hire, he has said this for a long time. Haslam has used his money to gain control of the athletic department, the powers that he have lost sight that a successful football program will grow much more money than a single booster. Everybody loves a winner! Jon Gruden or any other coach that is worth having does not want Haslam telling them how to do their job, great coaches run their own show. Haslam was with Davenport when Currie was hired, this went against what seems to be a majority of other boosters. I will ask again, where does the problem lie?

Since this is still the Gruden thread I believe 1 of 2 things happened.

1. Gruden either wasn't contacted or was and turned us down.

2. Gruden was never pursued seriously and his comments were a plea to UT to come after him.

I tend to believe #1 because it's more realistic. Either way I'm at 0% that it happens at this point.

Gruden ain’t coming.

Tee is under qualified but at this point he is our best / only option.

Remove this thread

How about simply removing yourself from this thread if it bothers you so much?
This thread is about a lot more than just Jon Gruden.
It is a community of good people who enjoy one another's company and discussion.

Oh its not over just yet W@M. I truly believe that there is a change coming. The fans have finally had enough and finally standing tall

I’m so happy that the fans voice been heard! My worry is will it be enough (apply maxim here). You’re very right about the change coming. It’s time to right our ship.

I still very much think that Gruden can be in play. I think his various comments and never denying an interest in the position, as others have already referenced, is evidence that he was never 💯% engaged by Currie. I do think some of the boosters had discussions, and Gruden liked what he heard, but it stopped there.

So, the "Cleaners" need to come in to take care of the current $hit show known as Currie. Once they have completed their needed task, the "Closers" need to step up and make an official public offer to Gruden. Then, and only then, will we all truly know where we stand.

If for whatever reason Gruden is not that candidate, then based on what we need and who has a proven track record in the SEC, the next candidate on tap should be Miles. He can and would make Tennessee relevant again. If Miles does not work out, keep moving down a short list.

I really believe, if the above scenario would play out, we would for sure have one of these two coaches as our next HC. Just my opinion.
