This is a good example of the blissful ignorance surrounding our program
Oh I don't doubt who's pulling the strings. I know Currie is just a puppet. I'm just glad that this fan base may bind together and make a change. But one thing I WON'T do is sling mud at my fellow VOL brothers and sisters. If it makes you feel better about yourself calling me ignorant you go ahead. I'm secure with my intelligence, besides I have more important things in this life to worry about. My wife has Grade 4 GBM brain cancer and I don't know how much more time I have with her. I do know this she's been huge VOL fan all her life and this Florida boy fell in love with a beautiful Knoxville girl. Oh yeah and it's blissful alright.

Well, at the very least we will not get a coach of the caliber we were hoping for this time. I would be shocked if any coach in our top 20 would even consider a interview for the job this time. We will hire someone (probably worse than we just fired) and with a 3-4 year contract. So for those of us that thought we were getting closer and a good coach and a year or two we'd be ready to compete again, that's gone. This mess, no matter what's done now will set us back 5- 10 years to get back to where we were weeks ago. It shouldn't be this hard or depressing to root for a team of any kind.I really believe it's time to accept this is now our place in the NCAA and quit expecting to return to the past, those days are LONG GONE!

It's not that we suck and should consider ourselves unworthy of top candidates, it's that we have an administration that won't swing for the fences

If Gruden wants complete control over a program, then give it to him. After yesterday, we need a coach who wants complete control. While this is absolute rock bottom and we are languishing in the ashes, this is the perfect time for someone who loves to work and build a team come in and do so. If he has any interest in the job at all, and I think he does to some degree, then perhaps this is his time to shine.

Trying to be positive.

I am just sick after all this, I was all in all Gruden and really thought we had him this time, but I felt like Currie had a great back up plan in place and could have a solid hire. Now I feel deflated like we are gonna get a nobody and have another crap season. I need a pick me up today.

Just heard on Jayson Swain’s show that Peyton signed off on Schiano.

Wtf?

This was a true civil war. The bad guy isnt always going to be who we want it to be. Our own will be on both sides.

Im not saying Peyton was on the other side but its not as cut and dry as Haslam/Currie vs VFL's. Im thinking alot comes out that will be surprising.

I feel like even if Gruden was interested, all of this yesterday probably drove him away unfortunately.

Lol stop it, this is real life, if he wanted it he had it on a platter....don't make excuses for the man grandstanding and leaving us all looking ****ing dumb

How the hell is Currie still here. Some one has to go to save face of the University from yesterday. How in the world can he even look another coach in the face this go around.

Still doesn’t make sense that Currie thought he would keep $340 million in commitments from all boosters if it were clear there were two factions.

He’s now announced the renovations. Backing off that is a bad look too. When that was announced I posted it seemed to make sense that the pro-Gruden camp would make it seem like they were in on the stadium, but if things went south they would pull their support to force Currie’s hand.

It seems to me that is exactly what happened and it worked.

The $340 million question today is... what happens now?
