Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIII

Good grief, we were riding record highs this morning and now we've got nothing but this Mullen and Schiano BS talk.

I'm going to take a nap. Wake me up if something happens.

Looks like I picked the right time this morning to get some work done. I skipped to the last page, saw your post quoted and decided not to go back and read.

Why does there need to be a “backup plan” if Gruden has already agreed to coach? Personally, I think this board has been fed a lot of B.S. re Gruden by some attention seakers.

If Currie simply needs to feign a coaching search to appease Gruden’s personal interests, that only makes sense in a short-term sense. Surely we won’t play that game until MNF finishes - recruiting cannot wait until January.

So I’m calling B.S. on this Gruden stuff at this point.

GrandVol has been unwavering in all the roller coaster hills we travel. He's one of the few I will believe until/if proven false. I still think Gruden is our guy

Okay so you can go back and look at my posts in this thread. Mostly GTFO's. I am no insider but I am going to share one tidbit of knowledge that I have learned this morning that gives me hope. In my home town there is a pretty good prospect who is drawing some light interest and he and his dad were in Knoxville last week for the LSU game. I have on my phone a picture he took selfie style ( Sent to me by my brother in law ) where the father got half his face in the pic and Gruden is behind him walking down the street wearing his normal FFCA visor in Knoxville last Saturday before the game. I will not post a picture because the dad asked us not to and I will respect that wish for him having shared it with me. This in no way proves anything other than his actually being in Knoxvegas last Saturday when the rumors were flying that he was in town. You can GTFO me or flame away if you must but thought some would appreciate a little smoke to add to the fire. TIFWIW

Stacks up nicely with the info that was told to me so I will support it.

Yep, you’ll line up at the trough and eat whatever the administration tells you to. I’m done with it.

No I won’t. But I also have the common sense to know that there are only so many Gruden or Sabans out there. Saban isn’t leaving and if Gruden doesn’t want to coach then we still have to find a coach. Petersen would be great but I don’t see it happening. The fact is Mullen may be one of the next best available if that’s the way it plays out.

From John Brice:

Have been told consistently since Friday the Schiano talk is part smokescreen, part controlled leak to gauge reaction on backup to backup plans. Currie’s own words, plus this @washingtonpost story, make Schiano a worst-case-scenario: washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/e…

Don't know whether to be encouraged about it not being Schiano (never thought it was) or discouraged they need to gauge reactions to backup to backup plans.

We need Gruden, and we need him STAT!

I’m starting to think lots of you guys have desks full of participation trophies. Sure I want Gruden, and I don’t want shiano. I will, however, not throw a tantrum and turn my back on the program just because Gruden chooses to not coach college ball.

But your dumb enough not be able to look in the mirror and say I am part of the problem. I, and a lot of others are tired of what has been going on since the end of Fulmers days. I am doing my part by using this media to say I am not taking it anymore. I suggest you do the same.

Sorry if this double posted.

Greg Schiano should not be part of the plan, period. Mike Leach is a way better fall back option, and I can think of several reasons why. This is so typical of a UT coaching search. We might as well come to the reality that IT WILL COME DOWN TO THE WORST CASE SCENARIO.

Not mine. If Tennessee had done what penn state did, I'd be done. If they go hire someone who not only was part of that, but is a proven a$$hole, I'm not going to support the team. Call it bandwagon if you want, to me it's not capitulating and being a homer. Those penn state fans disgust me by attacking victims and wanting statues of jopa put back up. I hope our fan base wouldn't be the same, but I'm sure I'm wrong and people would just blindly support no matter what.

This all day!!!!!!
