Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

There are only a couple of things I can think of right now that are positive about getting Gundy (if we actually wind up getting him)

1. We would get a coach that Florida couldn’t pusuade to come to Gainesville.

2. It’s not Greg Schiano.

Living down here in the middle of gator country has been gut wrenching the past few days, and years!

If nothing more than PR to calm the fans down and squash the Gruden to UT thing for good, would it not make sense to make him a reasonable offer. Prove to the fans it was made with full effort, and make him say no. That type of closure would help the next coach I would think. If we hire Gundy (once again not a bad hire), Currie gets the ax a week later, and then it comes out we could have landed Gruden with an offer that was reasonable, A LOT of fans are going to automatically dislike Gundy simply because he isn’t Gruden.

No, it would be sunday all over again since you may have 5 to 10,000 people protesting at the admin building.

I have been all Gruden from the start, but at some point we need to realize that just because we want him as our coach doesn't mean he wants to do it. Also does not lessen his love for UT. Just a life choice we all make every day, everyone has to do whats best for them and their family.

Blah blah blah.

I realized before this thread ever got going he might not want any part of college or NFL football. Are you telling me you just now realized that? Lulz.

He's said multiple times he wanted to coach again, and...you know what, you know all the rest.

You believe what you want.

I might be a minority of one but I would love get Herm Edwards. He gets up every day at 4 A.M. prays and starts his day. A very ethical man he would be a great role model and if need be father figure for our young men. Could see him going in a home and making quite an impression. With all this going for him I think he could kill it in recruiting. NFL player, coach and somewhat known sports broadcasting figure. I know he isn't even on the radar but with him interviewing at Az.St. just wanted to get it out. Herm to the Hill, could do worst and with our recent history probably will.

Off subject but what's everyone doing this evening?

I'm babysitting this fire where I'm finishing cleaning up a building I recently finished deconstructing.

About to get hungry.

About another hour and I'll be able to leave it until morning.

Looks relaxing. Wished my youngest son could. Getting ready for his last HS football game this friday in the Tennessee 5A state championship.

Gundy is an incredible coach.
This isn't even debatable and shouldn't be a question. In some respects he's more proven than Gruden.

I really don't think he's coming. I think this was a PR move to give Currie and Haslam more time to pull another coach in. But we'll see, I'd be very happy if wrong.

That's a guy I could get behind for the reasons you posted. He would have to have a really good OC. He's a former DB and no doubt would be great DB coach. He would give players tough love and they would respect him.

Guys. Sometimes a narrative gets written on here and it takes a life upon it's on.

Peyton knew and he helped. The guy was recommended.

I lost all respect for him if this is true. I hope he gets the gains he's sought.
