That's a guy I could get behind for the reasons you posted. He would have to have a really good OC. He's a former DB and no doubt would be great DB coach. He would give players tough love and they would respect him.
Thanks LAVol, I wish we had the power to make it happen. He has never failed to impress me any time that I have heard him. Wish by some miracle he could get in the mix, I think he would kill an interview. Take care brother.

UT should just pay Tee Martin 3.8 mill and give him 5 mill for staff.

Tennessee blood back on the sideline and give an up and comer a chance to soar with eagles with the best staff money can buy. If he fails well we tried to go full orange!

And a great recruiter to boot.

It isnt about the x's and o's, its about the Jimmy's and Joe's.

Fulmer was never considered the greatest x and o coach; but he did have the most talent in 1998!!!

Screw FN Jimmy Haslam and John Currie!

War and violence are what protects the sheep. Most in here are the sheep dogs, a few sheep, and a few wolves (who can gtfo).

The sheep right now are ready to take Gundy and hibernate until the spring game.

The wolves have battered Vol syndrome and have no expectations anymore.

The sheep dogs are blowing up social media, email inbox's, screaming at anyone who will listen. They also haven't lost the belief that victory can be obtained.

This might be the last stand, the last chance to truly take and hold "The Hill." Is this a hill worth dying on....CURRAHEE

I’m on that hill brother!

No need to be a d***, but clearly you are. Do you have proof that he wants to coach UT? If so please provide it.

I was just trying to provide some clarity. And he has said he MIGHT like to coach again, never has he said he would coach college ball. If I am incorrect prove me wrong. Maybe he doesn't want to comment on the UT coaching search because he does like UT and also has a child in school here. I would love to have Gruden as our coach, but stamping my feet and crying isn't going to make it happen.

And again if I didn't make this clear, you are a d***. No need to respond like that.

Not sure if it meets 'proof' standards but in 2015 he said this:
Tennessee is a dream job for a lot of people, me included.

No and please no trying to figure it out. People's careers are on the line. They are not a Tennessee legislator but I would say powerful if Haslam had their cell number. I know this is not earth shattering but it is first hand straight out of his mouth. He seems to think we are stupid and he can bite me.

Ok out of curiosity. If Haslam calls and says I wanted that hire and even says I told Currie to make that hire how is he in trouble. I do agree he needs to be gone but I don’t know that is enough info to run him out of town. Am I missing something?

Be interesting to know if Gundy was Plan B. Maybe AV will be cleared to tell some or all of the tale. I guess the $10.5 million offer is still on Gruden's plate until we sign on the dotted line with someone else?

If Jon Gruden want to be the Vols coach all he needs to do is open his mouth and say so publicly in a national spotlight.

This fan base will do rest, even to burning the mo’fo AD to the ground to make it happen.

Please let this thread die and go to the bottom.

Jon Gruden is little more than a attention whore.

He doesn't want to coach football anymore, he just wants to talk about it.

Not sure if it meets 'proof' standards but in 2015 he said this:

I do think he loves UT and I would love him as our coach. Besides that statement he has given no indication that he wants to coach college ball.

I would love to be wrong and he is announced as our coach in the next couple of days, I am just not sure that is happening at this point.

Don't forget. Gruden could have told, UT,fans, media etc. that
I want to coach the VOLS man. That might of helped get the deal done.
Unfortunately, he didn't.

I have thought he was promised "that call" and was waiting on it. At which time he dropped the Rocky Top is a great song bit like wheres my call guys.

Feel like I been shot up like an old paint can on a 50 year old shooting range. You pour water in me I'll leak in 100 places.

But I'm "40" and I'm a man!

Still want Gruden.

To clarify my point, I would be happy with Gundy if that’s who we get. Obviously the points about Gundy being more proven in certain aspects are solid. At this point, Gruden or Gundy are far better than anyone Haslam / Currie are likely to trot out to the podium. At this point, nothing would surprise me.

Gundy--one Big 12 Championship (2011) when the Big 12 had no other team ranked in the top 10. K-State finished second, one game behind. I can't say that I have a great deal of confidence Gundy can give UT a good shot at beating UGA or UF on a consistent basis. If he's the hire, I hope I'm wrong.

If nothing more than PR to calm the fans down and squash the Gruden to UT thing for good, would it not make sense to make him a reasonable offer. Prove to the fans it was made with full effort, and make him say no. That type of closure would help the next coach I would think. If we hire Gundy (once again not a bad hire), Currie gets the ax a week later, and then it comes out we could have landed Gruden with an offer that was reasonable, A LOT of fans are going to automatically dislike Gundy simply because he isn’t Gruden.

Reasonable is in the eye of the beholder.
