It's a "Get off Gruden's dick and appreciate the great hire we're about to make." I don't want anyone to have their hearts totally set on Gruden, because that was never going to happen, and it makes every other candidate look bad.

I would support a proven coach cOming here. Strong has had one good season in a mediocre conference. Sounds familiar, no? His recruiting has been subpar as a HC. I don't support this because of Gruden. I don't support it because he is mediocre.

We will not get a Gruden hire until we fix the AD and academic side of things. It's just not a snap of the fingers. Don't know what else to tell you.

He was probably right, and I think it showed a lot of guts for him to say so publicly.
2) It is somewhat ironic that you mention Tony Dungy.
He is on record as having agreed with what Strong said. He said that he too believed Strong was passed over for jobs he would have done very well at (in the SEC) not just because he was black, but because his wife was white.

Regardless of how sensitive people can be about the "race card," it really isn't a stretch for me to believe that race had something to do with the Chizik hire in Auburn, Alabama. Not exactly known as a bastion of tolerance.

Cal
East Carolina
Kansas
Minnesota
Vanderbilt
considered by UK prior to the hiring of Brooks.

All passed on him.

I guess all of those schools were racists as well.

Who do you think will be hired then??? Gundy isn't going to leave okie state and gruden is far over with. Some of y'all need to get a realistic life and stop leg humping gruden.

He has been listed as the assistant coach of the year, which CHAVIS has won as well, and has been listed as recruiter of the year multiple times. He took Louisville and made then 10-2 and playing a BCS bowl game with South Florida players who had no business in Kentucky. He will do great here with the resources. He was always an SEC guy.

You KNOW all of that, like I KNOW Gruden is coming. The truth is he gets all of this recruiting props based on his time at UF, you know when Miami and FSU weren't very good. His pipe line from Florida to Kentucky would not be good enough to beat James Franklin on the recruiting trail, much less Saban, Richt or Spurrier.

Like you and others said regarding Gruden, in terms of Strong, I'll believe it when I see it. That's if the AD at Louisville is unsuccessful in his bid to keep Strong.

Strong is small time thinking, which seems to be the mold we are stuck in, and I'm tired of it. I still don't believe it, but if it happens to come to fruition I believe it signals a continuation of mediocrity. Nobody here can seriously say Charlie Strong is the type of coach to go head to head with Nick Saban and have us on equal footing with Bama.

I unreservedly apologize for what I said, it was bush league. I love the Vols, but despise our leadership right now from top to bottom. I'm not alone in this.....many active letterman of various sports agree. It's a mess.

I've backtracked and apologized now, so all of you gloating trolls feel free to flame away. I'm mispoke, and am broad enough between the shoulders to take my lumps.

When this thing breaks the other way on you, be man enough to take what gets dished back out.

Thank you for that response. I didn't jump on the flame 'Boro bandwagon because I had a feeling you were speaking out of anger and not from the heart. That, and this is a f$%&ing internet forum and I'm not a douche who was chomping at the bit to jump up your ass like a shaky-ass, heel-nippin' dog.

Hahaha. I was just thinking of how many threads have come and gone with coaches named and then they fall by the way side. Only one has stood the test, and in the end... There will only be one. The Gruden Threads!!!
