I will say this, I appreciate Oldvol and Boro sticking around through all of this. At least they didn't take their ball and go home like many others did. Especially the ones that flopped back and forth like politicians in October. I believed you guys and was encouraged by what you brought to the board. At least I know we have a lot of UT fans that still think we should expect greatness for a great University. Unfortunately our AD feels different.

Thanks to all who posted in this thread, it was epic. Nightshift too. Been here since JG1. No hard feelings for the OG's for their info I appreciate any info Vol fans can contribute. Hope everyone can cope with whatever happens. Go Vols!

Dale Jones. Tee Martin. Jay Graham.

Who else is on our wish list for assts?

Considering none of my wishes come true when it comes to this team, ima just watch and see who he brings. I hope like no one else that this coach proves me wrong and actually turns out to be a great coach and I will support him as long as he's here but its so hard to get excited right now. Maybe if he brings in a good DC we can be decent but I wanna be great again! I want the 90's to early 2000's Vols!! I just don't see this guy competing with Saban, Miles, Richt, Muschamp and Spurrier.

Again the students should be protesting at harts office today.. Burn that place down. If burn mattresses for kiff leaving this is just as bad or worse event for tn football...

Guys how many juniors stay now.. Recruiting class will be a joke... Against next year schedule..what 5 wins....

Can hear it now.. Need three years for his recruits...look at the situation he inherited... We will be good next year....

Que the video.. About what vol fans say..lol

Truely a sad.day for tn football

The problem with this hire isn't Coach Jones. No doubt he is a fine coach and has had some success.

What bothers me is that this hire has all the sounds of apathy. A settlement hire. We all knew Gruden was a long shot, and many of us chose to believe (with or without sources) because we wanted more.
Facts are Jones has a 60:banghead2:% winning percentage in his coaching career (yes upgrade from Dooley). He achieved this is a MUCH weaker conference. When you look at the names of coaches in the SEC and compare them to Jones, where would you rank him....where would the recruits rank him?
This hire is not swinging for the fence, it is a stop gap hire...just fill the seat with "potential" or a "strong" hire but not a "great" or "exciting" hire.
As some one stated earlier- we were shopping for a Ferrari at Big Lots!
This guy was above average in his previous conference and now has to play with the big boys. And recruit against the Big Boys. I think we all can reason the outcome...
Hope I'm wrong!
Those saying get behind him or you are not a VFL are accepting and enabling mediocrity. When my "A" student child brings home a report card of "C's", I still love her but I am not going to celebrate!
I will cheer for my team now and dream big again with the next hire...which I fear may be all too soon.

With the two conversations I had the last two days, I think what has held us back was the academic side as far as programs our student atheletes can select that would be the same as other SEC programs.

CJG was still in play if this could get fixed. However, Martin and Cheeks have not made the changes and it has made it tough to get ANY coach including CJG.

I will support CBJ until he would gives a reason not to do so. He is a brave man to take this job on with the fight still to be made between the AD and the BOT(Martin and Cheeks). Good luck to him. Go Vols. Yes, I thought we had a really good chance still with Gruden after those convos. Obviously, not anymore. :mf_surrender:

I call this a wagon full of bulls**t.

Those standards aren't gonna keep Vandy from kicking our ass for the foreseeable future.:shaking2:

He specifically asked, no, challenged me for it.

Again, sorry it all turned out to be wrong. To those that feel wronged or hurt because they bought into what I brought here.....I apologize.

Ill be here on and off throughout the day, as I promised to eat my crow.

The way I took it was that he wanted some kind of proof that there is a source and you guys didn't make all this up. Although, I don't know how you could do that without giving names and I certainly understand why you cant do that. My point is that your source is obviously unreliable.

I commend you for sticking around and taking the heat. You surely had to know it was coming.

wut?

I am hearing that big $$$$ donors were not behind this hire, hence the salary.....

Hopefully big $$$ donors will withhold any further capital contributions to UT and the Athletic Department. If they do, it will cripple the Athletic Department which is already in dire straits.

Screw Hart!

This is interesting from an article.

"Multiple sources close to the Kentucky program said Jones initially accepted an offer to coach the Wildcats before turning them down in the end, and he cited potential interest from UT as at least part of the reason for that decision. Jones then interviewed with Purdue and Colorado but ultimately turned down both jobs — though the Denver Post initially reported that he’d accepted the Colorado job and had to issue a correction the following day."

Ran into a Bama fan at my daughter's school. He looked at me and smiled and said "Sorry man, I can't believe how far UT has fallen. Our rivalry just doesn't feel the same anymore".

I received similar condolences from my UGA co-workers this morning.
