Guys, this hire is equivalent to the Chizik hire at Auburn. Hire a guy in a bad program that he can ever win big at, but that the Admin and AD can control because he's just happy to have the chance.

Based on what is known, Gruden was never a real candidate. It is what it is. Get over it.

But you questioned the information provided, not the fact of whether or not Gruden was coming... so are you changing your argument now? Convenient!

I am over Gruden not coming... doesn't mean I am not a fan of what I thought Gruden would bring to the table. I'm definitely going to support Coach Jones and Tennessee Football regardless.

If you don't like people on here for being fans of Gruden, why are you still here? Just curious

Another positive is BJ has never stayed more than 3 years at any of his coaching jobs. Atleast if he is as bad as Dooley, he will probably leave on his own in 3 years, so we won't have to eat the buyout. Maybe then, when we get Orange blood in the AD, we will hire a real coach.

I'm hopeful too. There was Jon Gruden, and the rest of the field. This is as good of a hire as anyone other than Jon Gruden. People need to freaking relax and give the man a chance.

Ya see that's the problem I'm having. I honestly think this WAS our last chance. I don't feel there's any more time if we want to be relavant again. I can't see this guy going up against Saban, Miles, Spurrier, and Richt. Dooley waxed his team for goodness sake. The SEC will eat this guy for lunch. I honestly think we'll end up being the Vandy of old. We'll just swap places in the pecking order. The one bright spot is that a lot of fans will have next fall off.

Yea, the Big East just randomly selects 3 or 4 teams each year and names them Conference Champions. It's Round Robin so every two years you are guaranteed a championship.

True but we have some good players on defense. Sal just could not call plays at all and our biggest issue was our DB's. Not saying we'll have a great defense but can't get any worse.

Interesting that way back Hart was talking about Bama and how they had like $100 million in reserves and we were lacking. Was he not aware of how that happened. You spend big on big time coaches and they make the university lots and lots of money when they win. Yes they cost lots but they make a whole lot more. That is what I had in mind when we were talking Gruden. BJ may end up well but he could also leave us further behind.
