Official Seed List Watch Party Thread

Yep. I’m not even trying to be a “NegaVol” it’s just that you watch this team since Auburn and we’ve looked pretty terrible. Offense has looked slightly better, but not good enough to win March games. Defense has collapsed without ZZ. We don’t shoot free throws particularly well, although yesterday free throws were fine. I just don’t see an area on this team to be confident in going into next weekend. And, being a 4-seed is just brutal. The last 4-seed to make the Final Four was in 2013…..
What about an 11 seed? 17-14 michigan in 2022. 4/13 seems more favorable than the dreaded 5/12

Obviously, I still want us to be a 3-seed. I will be over the moon if we are. I just don’t really see a scenario where it happens UNLESS the committee stopped seeding the Top 16 seeds after Thursday. Who knows with the committee though. Their standards change every year. Just feels like with ZZ being gone and our close to the season we’ll be a 4.

Last year convinced me that Lunardi is in the know when it comes to the committee. If he still has us a 3 then I still believe that we have a great shot.

With ZZ out and recent performance, I expect a fall to the 4 line. Good news is that the matchups with 5 seeds appear more desirable than the 6 seeds. I would take:

Iowa St
Miami
San Diego
TCU

rather than:
St Mary’s
Duke
Texas AM
Kentucky/Creighton

Yeah. I want to steer clear of Miami though

Call me crazy, but I’m not so sure I wouldn’t mind dropping to a 5 if it meant drawing 4-seed Virginia. Another team that struggles to score the basketball. Might actually be a matchup we can win and get to the S16.

Bill Walton is really a funny guy so Pac 12 biased though said Duke winning means a 1 seed ,Kansas lost by 20 number 1 overall and North Carolina probably a 3 seed laughing the whole time he spoke

Best scenario possible played out tonight…Xavier, Indiana and Virginia all lost. We were fighting with UCONN for the last 3 seed going into tonight, we will see where the chips fall, about a 50/50 split on 3 or 4 seed. Seems safe that none of the 4’s would’ve passed us up tonight, seems like it’s us or UCONN for that final 3.

Why wouldn’t you rather be a 4 that draws 5 Virginia?

I think Virginia played itself into a 3-seed conversation this weekend, but likely ends up a 4. I’m just personally not convinced the Committee isn’t going to punish us for not having ZZ and the way we ended the season. Don’t misconstrue, I THINK we will be a 4. But, I’m saying I would rather they just drop us to a 5 if that increases our chances of playing Virginia.

It’s funny to me that neither Tennessee or Kansas State played yesterday and he had Tennessee ahead of Kansas State, then today he flip flops them, again with no game…that’s the stuff that makes you scratch your head and wonder if he’s leaked stuff, but if he was he should rank much better than he does lol.

Most of the major sites have us as a 4-seed as of this morning, so feels like that’s where we are headed. I’m not seeing many 3-seeds. The scary thing is just who our 13-seeds would be. Kent State or VCU are our most common projected opponents as far as I can tell, and both of those teams are extremely good for mid-majors. Regardless, looks like we are headed for a brutally difficult round one opponent unlike last year.

Jerry Palms is predicting Yale in Greensboro that sounds good

VCU will be higher than a 13 they better than that those seeds are for lower mid majors usually

Here is a really good (free) guide on what we should want today. Will is great at what he does. He notes that we’re 3-6 against Top 25 offenses, and we’re 20-4 against everyone else.
