Official South Park Fanclub Thread

This is what I thought.

we all kinda did; but this worked much better

there's more a better "f*** you Tom Cruise" feel to it after all the absolute sh-t he gave them when they last made fun of him, so Matt and Trey let there feelings be known here

Agree to disagree. I honestly think I would have enjoyed it more without the Ginger stuff, but that's just my opinion.

I didn't like how everything was censored...

they can't help it that they can't show an image of muhammed, that's Comedy Central's work/ruling so they just made fun of it

They tried to show him in the Cartoon Wars, but Comedy Central went over their heads and censored the entire scene

Cruise went through Paramont threatening something about Mission Impossible 3 the last time they spent the episode saying he was gay so Comedy Central (Paramont is their parent company) pulled the next airing of the episode

Anyone think he does something again after this one?

Also on an off topic note, I watched Ugly Americans afterwards tonight. I actually really enjoyed it

It's not that, it was the name being censored. It just got annoying over time. And the little speeches I've come to enjoy being wiped out was a little anti-climatic. I understand that it was a joke, but I just didn't really think that it was funny.

I think it's meant to parody the situation by saying "you can't show a picture of an actual historical figure? What's next? Maybe we should just stop saying his name too so we don't risk our fears of violent reprocussions. Why don't we just say nothing at all so that nothing can happen?" .....kinda thing

I'm not even sure Matt and Trey were the ones who censored anything in the episode. It may have been a joke but it wouldn't surprised me if Comedy Central edited it like they did with Muhammad in the Family Guy episodes.

well, i guess this might explain why the episode wasn't shown a second time last night.

Do we know that? I mean it does seem like it could be keeping with the joke of overcensoring stuff (making fun of how comedy central did with the Muhammad thing last time)

I thought it was perfect the first time in cartoon wars. It was really comedy central, but it fit so perfectly I think it was even better.

I think the speech was their doing. I was talking about the image, they wanted to show him. Watch that interview.

I know the image wasn't their doing, at least not the first time at the end of Cartoon Wars. I thought it may be the this time because Tom Cruise was censored as well. I assume the speech was beautifully making fun of that, except they ruined it by bleeping it out. I guess I would have like it more in another episode, but not in this one where they had been building up plots. Once again, just my opinion.

See, I think they bleeped out the speech. So technically, there probably wasn't even a speech to miss.

why's that?

Comedy Central thought it was so controversial they edited it and didn't want to air it a 2nd time.

Also, the episode wasn't up on southparkstudios.com but had a message saying CC bleeped a lot of it and they weren't allowed to show their original.

Like I said, CC was responsible for the censoring. And there was an actual speech at the end according to Matt and Trey:

In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it.
