OFFICIAL Tennessee SEC Media Days thread

Barring a miracle we will most likely lose to UGA and USCjr. Mizzou and UF are 50/50. And that's not being negative, that's just reality.
That's reality only in your mind. Since you claim know who will win or who will lose, how about giving me some lottery numbers? "Reality." That's a word for those who're afraid to consider the realm of variables surrounding them. All you're doing is adhering to the status quo as your guide. In the wide world of sports, the reason they still line 'em up and play is because reality is just ascertained by the final score. 'Got the 2014 scores for me?

I feel we can really compete with Georgia and South Carolina this year. Aaron Murray is almost like the Casey Clausen of Tennessee. He never really got all of the credit he was due when he was here but in hindsight they both were damn good players. I believe with us having an improved defense and Georgia starting a 5th year guy at QB when can cause pressure and get the "W".

Read where USCjr might have half of their recruits not qualify and are really thin in the secondary. If we have a decent passer in Worley or Dobbs this year I think we can expose a secondary that only returns a RS soph at corner.

Hell to be honest Fade I think we have several crap shoot ball games this year. Hopefully we can expose some of those teams and sneak away with some wins! GBO! :dance2:

So there really is a chance

I don't like the "get back to a bowl game". I take that as "let's shoot for 6-6". We need to shoot for as many wins as possible. 6-6 is never ok even when we are down, but I would be happy with a bowl.

I believe that would be at minimum. Either way it would be progression

Yep. They picked Mizzo and Auburn to play the SECCG last year, and said that Auburn would play in the NC. Maybe we should listen to them.

Lindy's this time a year ago picked the SEC cellar as ... 12. Missouri 13. Auburn and 14. Kentucky. How'd that turn out?

So, in your opinion, it would be a miracle if we beat either UGA or USC? We almost beat both of them last year. I expect all of those teams to be favored when we play them but I also think we have a fighting chance. Miracle my ass. We aren't UT Chattanooga. We may as well concede those games, huh? "I'm just being a realist"

And if that's John Adams behind Crowder, then Mac should say, our program's about to BLOW UP! And throw his arms wide and accidentally smack the crap out of that dried-up, whining miserable son of unmarried weasels.

We beat Carolina, were six inches away from beating Georgia last year and possibly, just a couple of bad plays in the secondary from beating Florida. Murray beat us last year for UGA and the one that still bites my butt is letting a Maryville guy beat us in the Vandy game.
Murray is gone, thank God and Robinette is going to pay for his ruining our bowl chances. Just you wait!:dance2:

I'm curious as to why you think USC will most likely be a loss, when we beat them last year, almost beat them the year before, they lose their top two players and we get better.

No it isnt reality. Reality is we beat USCe last yr. They lost Shaw and Clowney. Reality is we let USCe back in the game in the 2nd half with conservative playcalling.

I can see the UGA game being a little tougher as we lost even if it was partly due to some bad officiating on UGAs last drive. They get Gurley back but lose Murray.

Improved QB play, great S&C results, much more speed and athleticism (younger? Still faster and more athletic), phenomenal team cohesion and enthusiasm, most supportive fans in years, generally "getting it." Yeah! I'm optimistic!

Where did the media pick us to finish last year and where did we end up? I'm just saying that those who report on college football outside of Knoxville are usually a little more objective than the fans themselves.

If last year's UT played last year's USCjr 10 times, USCjr would win 9 of them. They have quality depth all over the field, so losing Clowney, a guy who mailed it in for most of last year, won't mean much. They return all of the starting Oline, have a stud RB, and we're playing them at their place. Would love to beat them 2 years in a row, but I just don't see that happening with all the question marks we have on defense and in our 2 deep. Jmo

How can you possibly say that? My expectation is 6-6 with a bowl appearance, so how can they never meet my expectations? That doesn't make any sense.

Ya know, I routinely get creamed for being a negavol, but you can pull a number of threads from last season and find me defending Butch after some tough losses where other posters were hammering him. You, Volly, are making the mistake that by not going full throttle sunshine pumping in the offseason means you're just a negavol. So tired of that BS.

Why don't you come down here and do something about it. Or up here. Or over here. Not sure where you are. But I think it'd be fun to argue in person. If you and your wife are ever near Chattanooga, holler. My husband and I will take you to dinner.

Edit: You're in Arkansas. OK, probably don't get over this way. Nevermind. :)
