Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Anyone else see what Piniella did in tonight's game? He had Sean Marshall in to face a left-handed batter, a right-handed batter was next and when the right-handed guy came to the plate he put Marshall in left field in place of Soriano, brought a right-handed pitcher in from the pen, and then put Marshall back on the mound to face the left-handed batter after the righty. La Russa pinch-hit with a right-handed batter, but still... don't think I've ever seen that before.

The break couldn't come at a worse time for Ludwick. He's batted .455 with 4 HR and 15 RBI in his last nine games. Since bottoming out with a .225 BA on June 27th, he's got that up to .264 in the 15 games he's played since then.

anyone know where the 16 year old Dominican Mateo kid is going to start out in the minors? I'd love to see him here in JC.

Most 16 year olds that sign finish out the year on a DSL team if they play at all. Very good chance he could play for JC next year though.

Typically yes, but I know in recent years the KMets, Twins, Rays and Astros have all had youngsters on their rosters in the Appy. Plus the Cardinals are pretty good in the infield, they just don't have many weapons at the plate from the outfield right now. Plus they are 3 players under the 35 player limit.

It does happen, but I'd put my money on him being in Appy next year. It would be pretty awesome if he did go straight to JC though. Might be reason enough for me to go catch the game next time they play the Sox.

Unbelievable the lack of run support Pineiro gets. Cards won 2-1 today, and he drove in both runs with a double. With the win today, he's now 8-9 with a 1.09 WHIP and 3.09 ERA.

DeRosa 0-15 as a Cardinal.

...and he can't be much worse in the outfield than Duncan.

DeRosa got his first two hits tonight. Now batting .111 with the Cards. Dude is on fire.

Larussa must've had something else to do tonight... why the hell did he pinch hit Duncan with one out and one on... Genius

It's a bloodbath in Houston tonight. What ever did we do to deserve Todd Wellemeyer and P.J. Walters in the same game?

Yeah, not 100% in love with getting swept in Houston to kick off a stretch of games that includes series against Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and then Houston again.

Derosa is stroking, Tony better move him up in the lineup.. on that note, he better move Ankiel down.. Ank is my favorite but hes struggling majorly and doesnt look anywhere close to getting out of his slump.. lets hope Franklin just had an off night tonight

Hate to waste the good starts by Carpenter, especially coming off a patented Wellemeyer disaster, but I guess Franklin was due for a poor outing.

the mustaches are killing me, im surprised theyre not getting more publicity.. i think everyone has one besides pujols, yadi, and franklin.. (franklin has enough on his chin to be exempt) its good to see Derosa is taking part in the trend and being part of the team
