Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Make that 5-0. Dodgers just intentionally walked Ryan to get to Wainwright... and Wainwright came through with an RBI single.

That may be my favorite sequence of events in baseball. A team intentionally walks a guy to avoid his bat or get to a lesser bat... and the lesser bat hits a home run or does something to make the intentionally walk hurt.

This is the first time in 2009 that LA has lost 3 straight games. The Cardinals always match up well with the Dodgers. It's like how the Dodgers always seem to beat the Cubs. I'd prefer the Dodgers face some team other than St. Louis in the post season.

Ah, like I said before it got started, the Cards' rotation set up perfectly for this series, even though I wouldn't say Carpenter & Wainwright didn't throw their best games since there were base runners all over the place in the first two games.

If Wellemeyer and maybe even Lohse had been pitching those first two games the Dodgers could've won 7-6 and 11-10.

Speaking of Wellemeyer, he has mercifully been pulled from the rotation.

The new Busch is a lot nicer than I expected. Wainwright got hit hard, but kept getting out of jams. Torre looks a lot smaller than I imagined. I'll post some pics when I get back tomorrow. Free tickets rock...

Imagine that, Pineiro is pitching well and getting zero run support, as usual.

Pineiro was lights out. But what a catch by Manny. They were already sounding the alarms and exploding fireworks before anyone realized Manny caught the ball.

I think it's about time for a Pujols walk-off homer.

Assuming the Cardinals take care of business in the top half, anyway.

That was a tough loss. I hope LA can land Halladay without giving up Kershaw or Billingsley. Between getting the beatdowns from St. Louis and the Phillies landing Lee, they'll need to make a move.

Yeah, I can't think of a better pitcher to bring into the game when the other team has runners on second and third than Todd Wellemeyer. FML.

Make that a .606 BA after his 3-4, 2 HR game tonight. That sound you hear is Holliday's price tag rocketing out of the Cardinals' reach.

Good thing they've got him now though since Pujols has been slumping somewhat lately. Dude hasn't hit a home run since the first game after the break. What's his effing problem?
