Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

I really hope we get Francona. I wouldn't be mad if we went with Oquendo, but I'd rather go with a proven manager. It'd be a home run hire.

Rumor has it that oquendo is getting the job and that interviewing other people is more of a formality.

That's how I think it'll be done. It seems these days that after a long standing coach retires, they go in house for the replacement. If they do, then Ocquendo is fine. I still hope they give Francona a look, however.

I could live with Jose or Francona. But I really like Joe Maddon.

Mile Matheny as new Cardinals manager. Opinions everyone?

Not sure who Mile Matheny is, but only time will tell on whether Mike will be a good hire or not. No coaching experience so this will be his first run through. Honestly surprised we chose someone who had absolutely no experience, but it looks like the organization saw something in him while he was playing. I guess it's best to trust their judgment.

I'm not really sure how much bearing the managerial hire has on retaining Albert really.

To me he is more worried about how many zeros are on the final number.

I'd expect him to say the same thing about whoever is hired.

Regardless on whether he cares or not, at least he likes the hire. Better than hearing he hates it. It only helps our chances of retaining him.

I think Albert re-signs with the Cards but the Marlins have offered him a 9 year deal worth 225 million...Wow...Gonna be interesting to see what he does

The 9/225 business hasn't been substantiated at all. I've heard sources say the Marlins made an offer that is flat out "uncompetitive," and then you have people saying they made an offer like this. So, which is it? As usual, the media have no clue.

I am only going by what they said on the local news tonight...I agree the media has no clue but they sure know how to get to people lol
