Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Jeff Weaver (2-3, 5.54) vs. John Maine (3-3, 2.68) tonight as the Cards and Mets start a three game series in New York.

Weaver has had a couple nice starts recently... be nice if he continues that trend.

I HATE THE TARDS! GO REDLEGS! HERE WE COME BABY!

Another game, another blown save for Izzy.

Mets win 8-7 behind a two-run walkoff homer by Beltran.

Pujols 2-4 with 2 HRs and 7 RBI. Three run homer along with a grand slam.

Weaver seemed to pitch well until the 5th inning when he gave up 4 runs, the bullpen held, then the inevitable happened when Izzy entered the game. Ridiculous.

Mark Mulder (6-5, 6.09) vs. Steve Trachsel (12-5, 4.79) tonight in game two. Nice to see Mulder back, hopefully he's finally healthy.

Almost came back, but Mulder's futility was just too much to overcome. Mets win 10-8.

Cards signed Jose Vizcaino today... and he hit a two run homer tonight.

Just to show how bad the NL is, the Mets will probably be the only team in the league to win OVER 85 games. Wow.

Jason Marquis (13-11, 5.70) vs. Dave Williams (2-3, 6.90) as the Mets go for the sweep. I think it's on ESPN2... but the thing says ESN2. Who knows

Cards lose 6-2 and get swept by the Mets.

Marquis was characteristically horrible going 6 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 5 walks.

Ugh, the Cubs again. This makes three weekends in a row they've played the Cards.

Juan Mateo (1-1, 3.79) vs. Jeff Suppan (9-7, 5.03)

tidwell, i feel you pain, while i am glad we are tied for first i must say that i know what it's like to have to worst pitching staff in the nl, and it's no fun.

A part of me hopes the Cards miss the playoffs just to confine the embarrassment to the regular season.

a part of me would be fine with that, because that would pretty much assure my boys of a spot. Then again, we need someone in there we can beat up on.

Cards win 2-0.

I dunno what got into Suppan, 7.2 innings of shutout ball! Izzy even closed it out 1-2-3!

67-60

Cards win another on from the Cubs, 2-1.

Bennett was 3-4 with a HR and 2 RBI. Cards' best hitter right now.

Carpenter pitched a good game.. 8 innings, 1 run. Left in the 9th with cramps in the leg.

68-60

Gary frickin' Bennett comin' through again! Walk-off grand slam to complete the sweep of the Cubs. 10-6.

:rock2: :rock2: :rock2:

Bennett hit 4 HRs this week filling in for Molina and had the game-winning hits the last two days. :rock2:

A healthy Mark Mulder= A World Series appearance for the Cards.

He looked anything but healthy in his first start back against the Mets.

Mulder said that he lost the game himself because he was jacked up about being back on the mound for the first time in over two months. The Mets offense is no push-over, either. Didn't complain about soreness or anything, so needless to say I'm looking forward to his next start on Tuesday against the Marlins.

Marlins win the series opener 9-1. Believe that's 9 wins in a row now for the Marlins?

Aside from a eladoff HR by Wilson in the first inning, Scott Olsen completely befuddled Cardinals hitters allowing only 2 other hits through his 8 innings of work.

Another incredibly ineffective start by Mulder, 5 runs in 1.2 innings. Threw 49 pitches, 25 of which were out of the strike zone.

69-61

As in bombing out, maybe...

Ricky Nolasco (11-8, 4.45) vs. Jason Marquis (13-12, 5.77) tonight in game two.
