Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Cards win 2-1 and take two outta three.

Rolen with the game-winning RBI single. He also hit a solo homer in the 7th to account for both Cards' RBI.

Weaver pitched a great game for a change... 7.1 innings, 3 hits, 1 run.

As if things couldn't get worse for the Cardinals, having lost 14 out of their last 20 games, they now go to Chicago for the weekend to play the Cubs. 6-17 in the last 23, anyone?

Jason Marquis (12-11, 5.71) vs. Carlos Marmol (5-5, 5.50)

Marquis hasn't had a decent start in what seems like months, you gotta think he's due for one.

St. Louis signed Preston Wilson today. He was batting .269 with 9 HRs and 55 RBI before being released by Houston last week.

Definitely helps the outfield with Edmonds out with what they're calling post-concussion syndrome.

Another wild one in Chicago so far today. Through 4 innings, the Cards lead 4-3 and 4 errors have already been made between both teams.

Wilson's signing is already paying dividends. He's 2-3 so far and just hit a solo homerun in the 6th to extend the lead to 5-3.

Cards won their first game in Chicago this year, 11-3.

Duncan, Rolen, Belliard, Wilson, Bennett, and Pujols hit HRs today for the Cardinals. #36 for Pujols.

Marquis didn't pitch that well... but good enough to win. 5 innings and 3 runs. Bullpen did well again. Nice.

marquis may be the worst pitcher i have ever seen to have 13 wins, that being said, when you are getting that kind of run support i guess you dont have to be on all the time

He's definitely hit or miss. He'll either throw a two hit shutout or get bombed and be all over the place. Consistency has clearly never entered his vocabulary.

Another game, another loss for Izzy. 5-4 Cubs in 10 innings.

Pujols just missed a grand slam in the top of the 10th. Pierre jumped in the ivy on the wall and snagged it.

65-57

Chris Carpenter (11-6, 3.09) vs. Juan Mateo (1-0, 3.00) today in the series finale.

Eckstein out indefinitely with an oblique strain. Just when you think Aaron Miles is stuck on the bench after the acquisition of Ronnie Belliard. Oye.

Hey hey, the Cardinals win a series against the Cubs! Take two outta three witht he 5-3 win today.

Solid start for Carpenter, but what else is new? 8 innings, 2 runs, 7 Ks.

Duncan stays hot and hits his 14th HR of the year, in only 69 at bats.

Encarnacion hit a three run homer as well and looked lost in center field, nothing new there either.

66-57
