Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Anthony Reyes (5-6, 4.31) vs. Livan Hernandez (10-12, 5.24) tonight in game two.

The Cards have a good shot of gaining some momentum going into the playoffs as 8 of their final 22 games are against NL West teams. St. Louis is 20-6 this year against the NL West.

DBacks win game two 13-1.

Um... yeah.

Reyes gave up 7 runs. The Sosa I've heard of showed up tonight and gave up 4 runs of his own in 2 innings of relief.

75-65

Um, yeah... Cards got one-hit last night by Webb.

75-66

Jeff Suppan (11-7, 4.39) vs. Enrique Gonzalez (3-7, 5.64) as the Cards try to split.

And the DBacks take 3 outta 4 from the Cards with a 9-7 win today.

Cards' bullpen totally blew up giving 5 runs and blowing the game.

Suppan did alright I guess. Went 5.1 innings and gave up 4 runs, 0 earned.

Pujols was 3-5 with #45.

75-67

Andy Pettitte (13-13, 4.34) vs. Chris Carpenter (13-6, 2.97) tonight as the Cards and 'Stros open a three game series.

Don't fret about the Redskins' loss, vader. The Cards won 7-0! :)

Carp pitched a complete game shutout, 6 hits, 6 Ks. Sweet.

Belliard 2-4 with 4 RBI.

76-67

Andy Pettitte (13-13, 4.34) vs. Jeff Weaver (3-4, 5.19) tonight in game two.

Pettitte's start got pushed back a day, apparently.

Go Cards... Pujols should make it to 50 HRs this year! Looks like we're going to cruise into the playoffs... but they better start playing ball when they come or the season will be cut short for the Redbirds.

Honestly... I'm already looking forward to seeing Anthony Reyes and Adam Wainwright as full-time starters next season. For now, though, I think we need Wainwright taking over for Izzy. Izzy just doesn't have it anymore.

Anthony Reyes hasn't exactly shown to be another Jered Weaver, Francisco Liriano, or Josh Johnson in his starts this season. His first few were decent but I believe his ERA is now fluctuating around 5.

Hopefully the experience he's gained this season will prove to be valuable and he'll come out strong next season. The Cards really need to hope Mulder can come back healthy and be the Mulder of yesteryear.

Really looking forward to seeing Wainwright get stretched out next year.

Cardinals win 6-5 with 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th.

Weaver was Weaver and gave up 5 runs in 5 innings. Blah.

However, Pujols came up with 2 on in the 9th to face Lidge and hit the two-run game-winning double. Lidge is probably happy that this one hit the ground.

77-67

Roy Oswalt (12-8, 3.15) vs. Jason Marquis (14-14, 5.66) already under way.

Quite the first inning for Marquis. 5 hits, 2 walks, 4 runs. He was relieved of his duties for the day after 1 inning. What a joke.

Astros held on to win 5-1.

Cards couldn't get any runs across on Oswalt until the 9th inning.

77-68

Pujols has single-handedly ruined Brad Lidge's career. It's beautiful thing.

Jason Schmidt (11-8, 3.45) vs. Jeff Suppan (11-7, 4.25) as the Giants and Cards open a weekend series in St. Louis.

Cardinals win game one of the series 14-4.

Big night for Rolen... 3-4 with 2 HRs and 7 RBI.

Duncan also hit 2 HRs and had 4 RBI of his own.

Another solid start by Suppan... 3 runs over 7 innings.

78-68

Cards win again today 6-1.

Carpenter went 7 innings giving up only 1 run. 9ks. 15th win of the year, good stuff.

Pujols 4-4 with an RBI, Rolen 2-4 with 2 RBI.

79-68

Final game of the Giants/Cardinals series was rained out yesterday and will only be made up if necessary.

Cards/Brewers open a series tonight in Milwaukee.

Anthony Reyes (5-7, 5.03) vs. Chris Capuano (11-11, 3.66)

Ah, that's Looper for ya. We can't honestly saw Izzy would've did any better.

Cards lose 4-3.

Pujols 3-5 with his career high-tying 46th HR of the year.

.330, 46, 126, and Gold Glove worthy defense for Pujols this year on a first place team. He's gotta be the MVP, Ryan Howard HR heroics aside.

79-69

Yeah, I definitely think Pujols is more deserving of the National League MVP. I also think Carpenter might have an outside chance at the Cy Young again.
