Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

:blush2: What would one have to do to talk a mod into changing the title of this thread to "The official thread of the 2006 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals"

That's a little long, come up with a shorter version and I'll do it.

Congrats to all the Card fans.

Well, since you're the one that started this thread to begin with . . . Done.

Tiddy must have blown a gasket when they won. Either that, or the new thread name confused him.

This could end up being one of the greatest weekends ever. A Tennessee win will seal the deal. Wow... what a night...

Nah, the board wasn't working for me last night.

Just an unbelievable run. Makes it even sweeter that close to no one gave them a chance... in the first round, much less the World Series. I certainly didn't expect it either. I know on several occasions I said I hope they contained the embarrassment of 2006 to the regular season. I'm glad they didn't listen. :)

Total team effort... Weaver pitching out of his mind again, Suppan pitching well like he did the whole second half, Carpenter being Carpenter, Pujols had a couple big hits and a nice defensive play, Eckstein came up huge and deserved the MVP, Rolen found a playoff swing, Molina found ANY swing, Belliard had a huge division series, Spiezio was clutch in the NLCS, same with Taguchi, Duncan had the big HR off the lefty in the NLCS, Edmonds had big hits, Wilson made nice defensive plays, Encarnacion had one big hit I know in the NLCS, Miles got on base a few times to start some run-scoring innings, Reyes came up huge and ultimately set the tone in game one of the 'Series. Just awesome man. So happy to see this group win a World Series, they've been dancing around it since 2000, and they finally got it done this year when nobody expected it.

Couldn't have said it any better! Here's to a successful offseason and bringing back most of the World Series Champion team!

Major props to the bullpen, too. Can't forget the job they did. I'd also like to thank Isringhausen's hip, for hurting and knocking him out for the rest of the season. I doubt we're having this discussion if he had remained in the pen.

Dream Weaver also filed for free agency a couple of days ago. His agent is supposed to be pretty hardcore, so we'll see how this turns out.
