Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Thanks for picking me up last night, tc. Been having computer issues... kinda hit or miss, and it's hitting right now. :)

7-5 Cards right now in the 9th... delay of some sort. Rain?

No problem, Tiddy. Yeah, rain delay right now. Hopefully Izzy doesn't get too stiff. Good to see Pujols getting a couple of hits. How about Skip Shumaker going 3-for-5?

Seems like Eckstein and Duncan have been sitting too much lately.

Turns out Duncan was a late scratch for yesterday's game because he was late due to getting stitches in his head. He was in a hurry leaving his apartment, tried to jump down some stairs, and cracked his head where the ceiling comes down. Josh Hancock was late as well, but he had a better excuse... he slept in.

"I was in a hurry this morning and kind of jogging down the hall and I tried to just jump down the stairs, and I clipped my head on the corner of the roof where it comes down," Duncan said.

"It doesn't hurt as bad as you would think it does," Duncan said. "It just kind of split open. I felt like I could play, I just didn't get here in time."

He was 1-for-1 with a double in the game. :)

So Taguchi pinch-hitting for Jim Edmonds... just because the Cubs brought in a lefty. That's what you call over-managing.

And what do you know... he strikes out. So Taguchi would've been a better option there. Hell, Skip Schumaker as well.

Now... 2 outs, bases juiced, Kennedy at the plate.

Had another chance in the bottom of the 9th, but Duncan popped out to left. Spiezio had what would've been a game-tying 2-run bomb down the right field line, but it ended up a couple of inches foul. St. Louis had PLENTY of chances to tie or take the lead in this game. Very frustrating to watch.

Molina was 3-for-4 with a 2-run HR
A. Reyes falls to 0-4, and ERA is now at 5.73.
Kelvin Jimenez, just called up from AAA-Memphis in place of Kiesler, pitched a scoreless 8th inning and had pretty good stuff. As of right now, the Cards don't have a 5th starter to pitch next Tuesday. La Russa said it won't be Carpenter, but maybe if Carpenter is close, the bullpen will just tag-team Tuesday's game.

Record: 10-12
