Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Cardinals win 9-2 and take their second consecutive series.

Wainwright had another solid start. Hopefully he can stay on track.

14-18

Padres win 7-0.

No offense again. At least it's understandable against Peavy. He dominated. 10 Ks, 3 hits, over 7 innings.

Wells managed to strike out eight guys in between allowing 7 hits, 3 walks, and 4 runs over 6 innings.

14-19

There are the Cardinals we know. Get the bases loaded with one out and get nothing out of it.

Still 5-0, bottom 6

hey tclowers, I know a few days ago we were ruminating on the success of former Cardinals' Jeff Suppan and Jason Marquis...

How about Jeff Weaver this year? 0-6 with an ERA of 14+. Opposing hitters are batting .459 against him!

Cripes, I wonder if Oakland would be interested in trading Haren (3-2, 1.89) back to St. Louis for Mulder?

in a word- NO.

billy's crazy, but he wont' get rid of haren. anyone that considers Harden the ace is kidding themselves. The Hudson trade sucked, but the Mulder trade is coming out GOLDEN. now if they'd just find consistent offense, i'd be a happy camper.

I didn't think you/they would! :) I really do (especially now, obviously...) miss ol Dan. Isn't Harden back on the DL again? You just have to wonder how good he could really be if he actually ever had the chance to pitch for a consistent amount of time.

Anthony Reyes (0-5, 5.03) vs. Justin Germano (0-0, 1.50) this afternoon in the series finale.

yeah, he's on the DL. out at least another week, but I'm guessing two or three. Supposedly he looked decent in a BP session yesterday though. He's nothing more than the AL's Mark Prior.

Central Standings

1. Milwaukee 25-12
2. Houston 18-19
3. Chicago 17-18
4. Pittsburgh 16-20
5. St. Louis 15-20
6. Cincinnati 15-23

Pujols still looks like shizzle, though. Two lazy pop-ups on the day. Everybody else is pounding the ball... even Juan!

I want more Tomko!

Yeah, I noticed Pujols with the bagel despite the runs. Everyone (except the pitcher) has a hit except him.

...and that's that.

Cards got all 8 of their runs in the first three innings.

Thompson pitched into the 7th and only gave up 3 runs for another decent start.

16-20

Adam Wainwright (3-2, 5.01) vs. Derek Lowe (3-4, 3.61) tonight in game two.

Wainwright is trying to win his third straight start.

Pujols is batting .094 (3-32) in his last 9 games.
