Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Well that was special.

LA's first inning: single, walk, walk, HBP, two run single, walk.

3-0 after 1. This one is over.

Nomar caps the inning with an RBI single.

9-4 Dodgers

Wainwright's line: 2.2 innings, 7 hits, 4 walks, 8 runs, 0 Ks. More base runners than outs. Ouch.

Cards put together 3 runs in the 7th, but that's all they got.

Dodgers win 9-7

Pujols 2-5 with 2 RBI. Hopefully he can get going now.

16-21

Kip Wells (1-7, 6.51) vs. Randy Wolf (4-3, 3.94)

In other news, the Cards begin a weekend series in Detroit on Friday night.

Cards hang on to lose 5-4.

Nothing of note other than Molina extended his hitting streak to 10 games. His BA is up to .286. Quite possibly the highest of any Cardinals regular aside from Duncan.

World Series rematch this weekend.

16-22

Braden Looper (5-2, 2.29) vs. Andrew Miller (0-0, 0.00) tonight in Detroit. This will be Miller's first career start in the majors after being drafted in the first round last year.

Pujols had 19 HRs this time last year. The entire team only has 18 so far this year.

Ooohweee. Tigers win 14-4 with a 9 run 5th inning.

Looper gave up the first 7 with his worst start of the year. Jimenez relieved him and in .1 of an inning gave up 2 walks, 5 hits, and 7 runs.

Pujols did go 4-4 with a HR and 2 RBI.

Andrew Miller pitched 6 scoreless innings in his MLB debut.

16-23

Tigers win again 8-7.

Cardinals tried to make it interesting with two runs in the 9th, but alas, that was not enough.

Spiezio had a pretty good night going 4-6 with 2 RBI.

Can't help but to brag about Molina. Got that BA up to .292 for Christ sake!

Reyes gave up 7 of the 8 Detroit runs to fall to 0-7. Maybe he'll give up 8 the next time.

16-24

I really don't know much about the Cardinals' minor league teams/who the top prospects are/who they're grooming or anything, I just check out their stats. It appears Reyes is here to stay.

BaseballAmerica.com: Prospects: Top 10 Prospects: St. Louis Cardinals

There are a few pitchers listed there on their top ten prospects list, but again I'm not really sure who they're grooming to be a starter/reliever/closer and so on. Looks like Jaime Garcia will be a starter one day.

Brad Thompson (2-0, 4.03) vs. Justin Verlander (4-1, 2.76) this afternoon as the Cardinals try to avoid the sweep.

As if there was any doubt, the Tigers completed the sweep of the Cards today with a 6-3 victory.

Duncan did hit HR #7 of the season for the Cards. 'Bout it for offense, again.

16-25; Flirting with the worst record in baseball.
