Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Batting practice for the Phillies still underway.

Wells only made it 8 pitches into the 2nd inning (without recording an out, naturally) before being hooked.

11-1 Phillies, top 8

Loss #10,000 for the Phills will just have to wait until next week. They're having no trouble shredding the Cardinals.

10-4 Phillies, bottom 8.

...and that's the final.

Maroth got rocked again. Boo.

Pujols hit another HR. Maybe he'll get hot here to start the second half.

40-47

It'll take a collapse of historic proportions on the Cardinals' part for the Phillies to avoid loss #10,000 tonight. When ESPN is there and everything, shoot.

Cardinals win 10-2!

Philly fans going crazy about that 10,000th loss.

Big night for Pujols as stated earlier.

Solid pitching performance by Wainwright too... slowly getting that ERA down to respectability.

41-47

Braden Looper (6-7, 4.72) vs. Byung-Hyun Kim (4-4, 4.94) tonight in Miami.

Looper started the year 5-2 with a 2.29 ERA in his first 8 starts. In his last 8 starts, he's 1-5 with a 7.51 ERA.

Cards win game one of the series 5-3.

Pujols' three game HR streak ended, but Duncan hit one in the first. Kennedy hit his second on the year as well.

Looper pitched 6.1 innings and only gave up 2 runs. Take that every time from him.

42-47

Brad Thompson (6-3, 5.10) vs. Rick Vanden Hurk (2-2, 8.38) tonight in game two.

Cards are 8-2 in games that Thompson starts this season.

Cards lose 4-0.

Couldn't do anything against 6 different Florida pitchers. Boo.

Thompson only gave up 3 runs over 6 innings. Not dreadful, at least.

42-48

Cardinals win by that same 6-0 score behind, dare I say, an impressive start by Kip Wells. 8 innings, 2 hits, 2 walks, and of course, 0 runs. Wow.

Encarnacion went 3-4 with 3 RBI. Taguchi added 2 RBI of his own and Pujols accounted for the other RBI.

43-48

Carpenter again experienced stiffness and swelling in his elbow after his last rehab start a week or so ago. They should go ahead and shut him down for the rest of the year.

Just got back from the ballpark. Two thoughts;
1. Who was that person wearing the jersey of Kip Wells tonight?
2. Dontrelle Willis is no longer an elite pitcher. I was trying to find a way to sneak into the Cardinal dugout and grab a bat to get some swings at the slop he was throwing tonight.
