Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

4-4, bottom 10

Pujols hit HR #24 to tie it in the 7th.

Reyes wasn't that great. Hopefully he'll win again before next June.

Safe on an error, single, doubleplay, RBI single, game over. 5-4 Pirates.

Pujols, Encarnacion, Miles, and Molina had all 9 of the Cardinals hits today.

50-55

Cards lose 3-2. Boo. Franklin blew it in the 9th... only recorded 1 out and gave up 3 hits and the winning run.

Wells pitched like crap but somehow only gave up 2 runs in 6 innings. Miracles, I guess.

50-56

Joel Pineiro (0-0, 0.00) vs. Joel Hanrahan (0-0, 4.50) tonight in game two. Joel vs. Joel. Oh, I can't wait.

La Russa batted Pineiro in the 8th spot tonight...

Looks like it worked for the guy in 9th. Kennedy hit a HR.

Maybe should've batted the pitcher in the lead off spot? Cards down 12-1, top 9.

Cards lose 12-1.

It's one thing to get rocked twice in one week... but to give up 12+ runs to the Pirates and Nationals!? Not exactly the Yankees out there...

Aaron Miles pitched a scoreless 8th inning! :rock2:

50-57

Lost 6-3. Swept by the frickin' Nationals. Lose 5 out of 6 this week to the Pirates and Nats. Pathetic. This season is officially dead.

50-58

David Wells (5-7, 5.18) vs. Braden Looper (8-9, 5.23) tonight in St. Louis.

Cards are going for their first win in July.

Looper has 7 quality starts and a 3.51 ERA in his 9 starts at home this season. He has a 1.97 career ERA against San Diego and held them to 3 hits and 0 runs over 7 innings back in May.

First 10 guys to hit in the 5th inning have base hits and the Cards have scored 9 runs with nobody out.

Beat me to it. Great story.

He'll be taking Spiezio's spot on the roster. Apparently Spiezio has checked into a substance abuse treatment program.

Ankiel goes yard!!!

what a story this would be if he actually keeps his spot in the lineup... I watched him play in Memphis a few months ago, and we're going to the Cards game tm and sat, so hopefully he will play this weekend...

Fantastic story. :rock2:

I thought he might've hit it off the MLB ERA leader, but it looks like they pulled Young just before Ankiel's AB.

Quite a pitcher's duel last night between Penny and Wainwright. Scoreless going into the 9th before Wainwright gave up the winning two run homer. Bummer.

yeah the game pretty much sucked last night :snoring: pitching duels arent fun to watch in person, although we did have seats right behind home plate like 20 rows up  Cards had their chance in the 9th, Kennedy couldnt hit a beach ball these days... I just knew Ankiel was gonna be the hero again  hopefully todays game will be better, should see some better hitting... hope we dont sit in the 115 degree heat for nothing :crossfingers:
