Is Iona an at-large team? They lost in their conference semis

I Wrote This last week just as a "what-if" scenario. Didn't expect it to actually happen. Iona played a top 40 non-conference schedule and has won a remarkable 15 games away from home.

I honestly don't know at this point what is going to happen with them, but they are pretty much the definition of bubble team. As a basketball fan, I would love to see them in. As a Vols fan, I hope we have the edge haha.

according to Lunardi they arent an at large team...

so thats good news.

he just reiterated that on espnu

MTSU lost in their conference tourney. Were they looking at an at-large bid?

Iona is right on the edge, imo. Their computer profile is phenomenal, as is their road record. They're light on the Top 50 wins, but they could sneak in.

Lunardi says no to both.

thats a good sign.

Lunardi is def a good person to follow to keep track of things but is by no means definitive. Not calling you out at all lol. Just throwing some perspective in there. That being said lets hope he keeps throwin the VOLS brand out there!

Lunardi also said no way to VCU and UAB last year. There are usually one or two mid-majors that the bracketologists miss on. Iona might be one of those mid-majors. I think it's 50/50 for them.

you are right, but at this point he doesnt even have mtsu or iona as first four or next four out, so i really dont think they are that close.

we should find out more in the next day or two though.

in any regards, we are the next team in at this point, so nobody below us really matters, its the teams ahead of us that matter.

Very true. I this is going to be a long week. At this point, if we just produce and win 2 then there is no way we are out. I believe our RPI would be low 50's and we came in 2nd. It's nice having the ball in our court. I feel even more confident with CCM leading the team.

tomorrow will be fun.

if there are any bubble teams that are in right now, and they lose tomorrow, we will then be considered in as of tomorrow night!!!

:)

wheres the date on that?

i ask cause i could have sworn his last bracket had all the teams right, but i could be mistaken with someone else.
Those were the final brackets. Lunardi's bracket last year was pretty bad, although there weren't too many people expecting USC and UAB to get in (those were two strange selections).

I don't think Iona is a surefire at-large team. But, they're in the discussion and I think they could very easily sneak in. MTSU, on the other hand, doesn't have a prayer, imo.

Iona has the better chance of the 2, but i think itd require all the current bubble teams losing atleast 1 more game, if not 2.

JMO though
