Opinions/Feelings about Jeremy Banks

From what I read, Hurd was lied to by Butch. Apparently that was a common theme. I have a hard time blaming Hurd. Butch never utilized him or Kamara right anyway. I don't really hold it against Banks either but he was a bone head always doing bone headed things.
That team was so loaded (except OLine, which was bone-headed). Hurd as a receiver and the tandem of Kamara and John Kelly in the backfield would have been epic.
Knowing what we know about Hurd and Butch as human beings, I believe Hurd. Everytime.
I am not thrilled about Hurd benching himself midgame, but he made up his mind he was leaving and wasn't going to give another drop of sweat to that man.
Butch was really stubborn, wasn't he?
His "System", his slim OLinemen philosophy, his laminated master plan for each game that told him to do whatever miscalculation in the game, his fake tempo.

Banks and whatever troubles he had are rearview mirror now. I liked watching him play. His talent would have helped next year. Done deal.

As for the D, this game could have easily looked like USCe. They drove repeatedly into scoring position. Whether you attribute it to UT's D tightening up or Clemson simply not being good close in... Clemson couldn't finish.

There are still significant issues to be resolved with this D.

I think best case scenario the kid lost sight of what was important and allowed himself to be a distraction which cost everyone on the team. Now we could have still lost to Carolina but a bad defense was more off their game without him on the field and with whatever went down being a distraction as well.

IF they somehow beat Carolina this team is in the playoffs and who knows what doors that opens for every player on the team as far as NIL, draft projections, etc. Banks was for better or worse a leader on the team and he lost sight of what was best for the team and himself. I’m not going to go into the fighting conspiracies or any of the past mistakes the kid made; I’m simply going to say we need better depth and better leadership going forward on the defensive side of the ball.

I thought if he was as important to the defense as it seems, it was good of him to step aside for the bowl game so someone else could step up for next year. Instead of working him up for one more game we get double the preseason practices with his successor.
He didn’t step aside, he got put aside due to academics

Can you say what Heup did or didn't do that makes you say he mishandled the situation? And, have we heard all the details?
Heup absolutely loves Hendon. For whatever reason he has never liked Banks. There as a confrontation between them, and he only punished one. Hence the fact that the defense didn't show up against SC. They felt like Heup played favorites, and Heup also took away their leader.

Don't forget about Hadden. Maybe, he's just has on on the field issues instead, idk.
Hadden seems toxic to me. Guys with a hot head and a big mouth can be baited into doing something stupid. He's had a few good plays, but trash talking after you've been burned on a play "does not compute", and yet there it is.

Gotta say that everything you’ve heard this year is exaggerated and only partially his fault. There’s a lot of gray. His mistake with the police was particularly stupid. This year, he was a big part of a team that outperformed their talent. The reactions to his mistakes this year are largely overblown.

Banks has talent and potential. He would probably have excelled even more with a mindset like Hooker, Milton, et al. I wish him the best, hope he is fortunate enough to take advantage of any opportunity in the NFL he may have and understand it may be fleeting if he doesn’t grow up and approach things like an adult.

Given the rumors around the South Carolina disaster, losing an opportunity to play in the playoffs, the Hooker injury, and Banks not playing in the bowl game and the defense actually showing up, what’s your opinion on Jeremy Banks’ role in the derailment of this year?

I’ll always feel we missed out on something very special that doesn’t come along every day. Missed opportunity.

(PS. I am thrilled and grateful and pleasantly surprised to have had the year we had.)
Well…… bye

How was that confirmed?

Jeremy is not responsible for the defense laying down against South Carolina. He may or may not have been responsible for the problems between him and another teammate. However, the rest of the guys on the defense are the ones that decided to take a week off.

The Clemson game more than proves they could have played just fine without him on the field. They chose not to do so.

Hurd was flat out lied to. Butch promised him (I don't recall what it was) a style of play best suited to the type of back JH was. Instead, he kept with his general ineffective version of the spread, or whatever he called it. The result was JH getting constantly beat up due to predictable play calls. He went to Oklahoma, got switch to a TE, I think. But the big thing was even during his sit out year, the coach and players praised his team work, willingness to even coach others, and when he played, how hard he played. We also now know that Butch intentionally sabotaged Pig Howard's NFL chances.
How did Butch sabo Pig?
BTW Hurd went to Baylor.

NIL has changed the game. This is developmental pro-ball now, straight up.

Pure speculation, but if there actually was a confrontation between Hooker/ Milton against Banks, my gut tells me to side with the QBs 😂, but we don’t know what happened or didn’t and probably never will.. He was a great player for us, but we need to look toward the future

Agreed, we aren't likely to know the details. However there are some folks that do, namely the guys on the team, and half of them apparently felt like Banks go a raw deal. Maybe that isn't an accurate take but for some reason they chose to half ass things the week of the SC game. And they chose that path on their own.

So blame Banks all you want for the altercation and maybe he was responsible. However his defensive teammates just proved he wasn't needed on the field for them to have a good game and yet they got embarassed by a pretty sad SC team.

He lost me. I know he will play on the next level, but I’ll never cheer for him now. I lump Banks in the same category as Jalen Hurd for team chemistry damage.
Banks is way beyond Hurd. Hurd didn’t cost us a shot at a NC.

I think Banks was a problem child on and off the field but he also made a lot of tackles

Cmon man - Hurd’s fight was with the lying sack of crap head coach. Don’t hold hard feelings for any athletes from the Jones era as nobody should have to deal with that
