Actually, you do. Votes for narrowly defined "family values" and religious adjacent laws tend to be found in states with a higher percentage of rural voters.
Hell, if you read this board, you see that many of the posters who staunchly advocate for their de facto separation and self-sovereignty also strongly promote laws and practices that adversely affect urban dwellers in greater percentages.
It's interesting how do many who want to govern themselves in all situations are adamantly (and sometimes rudely) vocal about the need for government entities to control others.
It should largely occur at the state and local level. The model we have of large federal collections then flowing back into the state is broken. My money should largely stay in my community and definately in my state unless I’m helping pay for a tank or fighter which would defend any state as needed and the personnel to man them.Promote the general welfare. Somewhat involves taxation at some point.
Has the ever been a government that has lasted long term that did not tax in some form, shape, or fashion?
Given the care the Founding Fathers used in crafting the Preamble I quoted from, I would say that it is.
But they, the FF, were also a stubborn and bullheaded lot. They could not stand each other. Our national bird was damn near being a turkey; German or Hebrew were almost our national languages. But somehow this disagreeable lot worked together, sorted out their major differences, and realized we are all better together.
We just throw up our hands, insult the other side, and demand our way or else. And there's no give whatsoever. We have stopped promoting the general welfare and are backing the truck up to run over it again and again.
Also I think this really highlights the political divide between rural and urban America across much of the country. The mindsets are diametrically opposed with no desire for reconciliation.
Do you send this in to OAN, Newsmax, or Breitbart? This kinda delusional stuff is exactly what they go for.Yes, because you cannot reconcile differences with a population that thinks unlimited and uncontrolled immigration is a good thing; solar and wind power can replace fuel-fired energy producers; rewriting our history makes it all better; white people are inherently racist and evil; same for cops; there are more than two genders, and you get to pick any one of them you want; those who work, produce, invest, and invent should help support those who sit on their ass and depend on the government to meet all their needs and wants; most of our National Monuments should be torn down, renamed, or replaced by something more "diverse"; same for our schools; Hollywood knows what's best for us; and the fact that California, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Michigan, New York, Connecticut, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Atlanta (just to name a few) are liberal-infested, crime-ridden, shitholes is Trumps fault.
Shall I go on?
I, personally, am not interested in reconciliation. There is nothing they believe in that I can reconcile.
I have the honor to await their attempts to "reconcile" me. The resulting meme should be priceless.
Rant over.

What can I say? Teaching you knuckle draggers how a civilized society operates can be fun sometimes.Aren’t you due for another shower crying boy? You’ve been on here quite a bit today

Yep. Somewhere along the way people stopped respecting other people’s individuality to just be and collectively decided they had to bend people to their own views. The Golden Rule and the Ten Commandments alone form a pretty solid code to live by and then figure out the rest as you go along.Oh...you and I are cut from very similar cloth, but it's not a "political divide" that separates us, although that is an easy way to define it.
What separates us is, in fact, a moral divide. More like a canyon. You won't find the Constitution of the United States, or the Bible, or the Rule of Law, prominently featured...if even present...in the moral DNA of any of those on the other side.
None of their "heroes" formed, led, fought for, died for, or served this great nation. They almost universally rally around those who tried to, and would, destroy this nation.
And for that reason alone, there will be no reconciliation. Not with me, anyway.
Lol back on the outrage and you mad bro stupidity again. We find your lack of intelligence and wit mildly entertaining... nothing more sometimes less. Also it's good to know that you care about my whereabouts. I know there's a select few posters that get you all revved up so it's good to know I'm one of them.
Coworker of mine plans to retire to Idaho in a year or two. I’d start looking up Idaho stuff online at work to see what she’s moving to and it sounds great. Beautiful country, weather sounds good. If I ever get to retire I honestly plan on checking it out more thoroughly to see if I’d want to move up there.
A more moderate climate with little to no humidity sounds awesome.
As far as weather I didn’t do a deep dive. I just compared the seasons avg temps for a few months and kinda liked what I saw. Colder than Memphis but a lot less snow than I would have thought I think.I contracted in Idaho for a year in 2017. It does have a lot of beautiful country. And it is definitely lower humidity.
However, to say that the weather is moderate could be a little misleading. The winter I spent was brutal. But on the bright side, when the temperature remains below zero for extended periods (which it will), the low humidity fools you into thinking its not that cold. And the snow that falls in November will likely still be there on the ground in the spring.
I wasn't a fan of the progressive state income tax. Not sure if it treats retirement income the same way or not since that didn't apply to me.
