Oregon counties/Join Idaho vote

Understood. Your example from your family dynamic is an example of providing the specific welfare rather than promoting the general welfare. Correct? And by the way, I'm not deriding the help your family received in any way with my questions. I hope you know that.

Sorry it took a long time to reply; it's been crazy here (I'll post about it in the off topic thread).

I think there's different ways to look at the semantics, and your way could be right. So could mine. I see stable family units with present parents as part of the general welfare, because communities with a greater amount of positive interaction between parent/guardian and child tend to be more stable and with better education and job outcomes.

And I never thought you were deriding my family's situation. It's all good.

Social media will be the downfall of mankind.

And yes the communities ive felt the closest to were the ones of least population density.

Social media, initially touted as a way to keep up with family and network, descended into a way for people to model their life after the way they wanted to be viewed, hate, self-interests and self loathing, and an uptick in pornography from the aversge citizen and cheating in relationships.

It is no wonder, people want government to supplement their income by taking from others because many waste their income on online porn which has seen in increase during the pandemic.

A friend of mine shared how his son spent much of the covid relief money tipping a girl online who had given him fake attention.

If providing (situational) specific welfare to people is also promoting general welfare for our country, why would the FF not outline where to provide specific welfare comprehensively and intentionally...especially considering we both agree they chose the term "promote" intentionally?

Is this a realistic possibility? I mean how would it work?

There's a huge legal cascade that can come from this. It would affect the ability of states to regulate counties and smaller municipalities, which may end up reversing several Red state trends of right control from the capital as of late.

I'm sure its a possibility but its gotta be very difficult or it would have happened in the past..just think it would render every US map obsolete

Not only that but the census, government funding, senate seats. Seems like it would be a huge mess. But honestly I don’t blame the places wanting to leave. Oregon is quickly becoming its own dictatorship.

Kind of what I was thinking. Just seems like too big of a mountain to overcome so to speak. Oregon might want to rethink how they are handling things.

Really reaching, but with new states requiring approval, wonder if there would be a good angle to combine states. Give up the Senate, but just form a superstate and say NO to anything DC says.

I don't see this ever happening because it would open the floodgates for other counties across the country to move states. No way the powers that be allow that.

I’m open to letting Shelby move to Arkansas and Johnson move to either VA or NC.

We are not going to make it as a nation..I am firmly of that belief now. The radicals broke us.

BTW..what was that state attempt within Tennessee in 1800's?
