Oregon game - Who's coming to the game?

On Stubhub Standing Room Only tickets are going for about $87 (not really an option for myself, wife and daughter). Seats (nosebleed??) are going for $110+. I'm kind of hoping to find someone I know that has season tickets but can't go.....wishing might be more accurate. :)

I wouldn't worry about about "bad seats" I've never sat anywhere in Autzen that I'd consider a bad seat. No real "nose bleed" seats anywhere. Great views are one of the wonderful things about Autzen.

I would recommend ear plugs. They help so that your ears don't ring for hours after the game.

Yep UW, top 10 in geoscience beeches! And now I get to hate on Oregon for a few more years :p

Ever since the taildraggers voted Oregon out of the Rose Bowl in 1948 things haven't been very friendly. You know what they say, "if you have to let one in the door, spread the newspapers, keep them off the white carpet and off grannie's leg.

Nine of my buddies and myself just order tickets from the Letterman's club last Friday. Booked my flight and reserved three rooms as well.

This is a debate for the ages. All I can say is Autzen is typically included in the 10 loudest stadiums in the country. Yea, it's small compared to some of the BIG-10 and SEC schools, but there is just something about the design and the fans that really brings the noise to the playing field.

The crowd is reasonably smart as well, they know when to get quiet and when to get loud. Very responsive. It's quite common for opponents to have motion or delay of game penalties directly related to the crowd. I will never forget the ASU QB flipping the crowd the single digit salute after three consecutive penalties on the ASU offense.

Michigan QB a few years ago said he couldn't get the ringing out of his ears for hours after the game. LOL

The only way to really settle the relative loudness of Autzen vs. Neyland argument is after Tennessee resumes its accustomed position among the nation's elite. Right now, the situation is skewed beyond anyone's ability to make an accurate analysis of their "normal" status as playing environments. Oregon is at the top of its game and they have an exciting product; those positively enhance any architectual features that may otherwise help to hold in the noise. By contrast, Neyland has been like a tomb for the last 5 years. Attendance has been way down and we are climbing out of the worst 5-year period since at least the late Battle-early Majors era. Let's revisit the debate once Butch has Tennessee revved back up to its usual standards.

After all, there is a reason that "The Sporting News ranked Neyland Stadium as the nation's No.1 college football stadium in a poll in the spring of 2001" (Neyland Stadium - UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics).

As a supplement to information which GoDucks349 provided previously pertaining to Oregon's natural beauty, I would like to repost the following data for the benefit of those Tennessee fans who may have a few extra days to spend in the area:

"If you're into scenery and landscapes you don't get east of the Rockies, a quick and reasonable trip would be to fly into PDX on Thursday afternoon, spend the evening checking out the hippies in town. Friday take a full day drive east out through river gorge to Hood River, then up over Mt. Hood to Bend and then over to Eugene. Leaving Eugene head West to the coast and up to Seaside and then back into Portland. Feel free to stop at any of the brew pubs that tickle your fancy or any of the wineries on the coast (being responsible of course). Dang. Now I'm daydreaming.

Edited to clarify that you would drive EAST out of Portland through the River Gorge" (originally posted by IN Jed).

If you can possibly squeeze it into your itinerary, don't forget about Crater Lake National Park. Formed by the caldera of an extinct volcano, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States (nearly 2,000 feet) and its waters are the most extraordinary shade of blue I have ever seen. For information on this destination, and it is a small national park, incidentally, see the following sites:

Crater Lake National Park - Crater Lake National Park - Crater Lake National Park.

Park Newspaper - Park Newspaper - Crater Lake National Park.

Hotels and Lodging Near and Around Crater Lake Crater Lake National Park | US Park Lodging (talk about a room with a view).

Our team should be used to any noise by game time including but not limited to; loud music, car horns, babies crying, pigs squealing (not a Deliverance joke), and sirens. I think they will be ready for the noise at Autzen, being ready for the Ducks football team is another story.

I will most definitely be at the game, as long as my schedule stays open. I have a deep hatred in my heart for the ducks after failing to beat BSU (twice) so seeing my team play them would be amazing.

Oregon fans that I spoke and hung out with a little in Knoxville were nice and respectful.
But when that squall line came through, the 4 sitting behind us were really frightened by the front. They said that doesn't happen in Oregon.

Lol

Nixon tried the same approach

LOL....... Damn I think you are right. Forgot that he took that approach. Of course Nixon lied about the evidence and destroyed evidence. It's my understanding Oregon has been open with disclosures pertaining to the issues.

I remember when I lived in Knoxville, I could sit on my front porch and watch the storms come in over the Smokey's and across Fort Loudoun. It was a pretty awesome sight to see.

Here in Portland it just starts raining in late October and it doesn't stop nor do we see the sun again until around April/May.

IdahoVol, do you make it up to Stanley and the Sawtooth Mountains very often? 'tis spectacular country, essentially a lower version of the Tetons but without the crowds.

LOL I lived in the West Hills overlooking downtown PDX until two years ago. I moved about 40 miles East of Eugene in the foothills of the Cascades. I'm at 1000 feet elevation, above the valley fog and below the snow line. We get a lot more sun here than in PDX.

Beautiful up there did a 6 day fly fishing trip down the Middle fork of the Salmon from there a couple years ago.

Those of you flying into PDX, there's a great little schnitzel restaurant on Concourse C called Gustav's. Nice beer selection too. I always had breakfast or lunch there when flying out for grad school summer sessions.

Don't bother with the hot potato salad; it's not that hot.

Unfortunately, the very best time of the year to be there, as in any portion of the Northern Rockies, is in the heart of football season. It just doesn't get any prettier than in late September, when the aspen have turned gold, the weather is cool and crisp, the elk are bugling in the canyons and, if one is supremely lucky, the peaks have received a fresh dusting of snow.

Here's a few places:
Best Breakfast: Glenwood Cafe, 13th and Alder near campus
Best Cart Food: Cart de frisco - Great Chicken Sandwich
Best Restaurant(s): Marche and Cafe Soriah
Best steak: Belly
Best donuts: Voodoo Donut -- It's truely and experience, where else can you get bacon on a maple bar?
Best coffee: Wandering Goat - funky off the beaten track

I had a younger couple (from Oregon) ask me if we had tornadoes in Tennessee. That was about 30 secs before it hit.

They didn't like my answer, nor what happened over the next 15 mins.
