Orson Charles (announcing at 4:30 pm EST)

Quote:
Williams was a frequent target of criticism from Kiffin and had two gaffes in Oakland’s 13-9 loss at Tennessee last week. He committed an illegal shift penalty to wipe out a third-down conversion and then dropped a pass on fourth-and-14 with 1:17 remaining.

A coach is going to go hard on a guy when he expects greats things out of them. This is not a big deal at all and im sure M.W. respects Kiff for trying to make him better.

Mike doesn't hold any hard feelings toward Kiff. They are still pretty close and Kiff thought so much of him. It tore him up to see him leave school and bad advice and turn into one of the biggest bust out there. They really another year at USC would have helped him continue to learn what it takes t make it in the pros. Kid had star written all over him and the year off between college and NFl destroyed him.

Charles talking to all those former/current pros and coaches was a huge swing in TN favor. He will be a TE/WR hybrid beast with NFL 1st round written all over him.

I'm talking about on that website that said OC is rumored to be leaning towards us. In one of the previous days, he said that BB is expected to sign with Oregon if Miami pulls the offer.

Oh ok did not fully understand what you where saying at first. Thanks for clearing everything up.:)

Didn't you know that we only post pro-UT rumors?

M.W. has an awful attitude, I know from first hand experience, when he was on the titans he and some other players would come and play basketball at the YMCA I go to. I played a couple games with them and watched few, he constantly complained and bitched. That's most likely why he never made it in the league. I think Orson Charles has the same talent and ability and a much better attitude and work ethic. BTW mike Williams has an AWFUL work ethic.
Was it the Y on Concord? I saw him there a few times, along with McCareins a few years back.

PT helps us, distance helps (compared to USC obviously), comfort with new staff is a question compared to UGA. Comfort probably helps UGA a ton with Murray being there and Orson developing a better relationship with their staff than our staff.

The only reason he's more comfortable with UGA's staff(now) is because they had a head start. Surely he's taken that into consideration. If he got confortable quick with our staff, he should give it time and he'll be much more so in the short term.

OC really wasn't impressed with his visit to GA, that's why he was still looking around. He is still not sold on GA due to concerns with how they will use him and the TE depth already at GA. He's knows at TN he will play early and often and his skills will be utilized. I believe CLK and staff has made a favorable impression on OC and he will be a VOL on Mar. 6th!

Hybrid is CMR's word for not knowing how he'd use him.

15 questions with Orson Charles about Georgia, Tennessee and Southern Cal | College Football Recruiting

Q. When is the last time you’ve talked with the head coaches of all three schools? Georgia’s Mark Richt, Tennessee’s Lane Kiffin, and Southern Cal’s Pete Carroll? A. “I talked with [Richt] on Tuesday night, and I’m going to call Lilly in a little bit. Kiffin? It’s been a while. Carroll? He left me a message and I’m going to try him back in a few minutes.”

not good

Geesh, I hope this all works out for the Big Orange on Friday. I am tired of having to track it everyday. But, I guess the next thing I will be watching is the BB/Oku thing. I know BB is set to announce on March 16, has Oku given a date yet?

No, that doesn't sound very good at all on OC.

That sounds more like UGA.

I don't have a good feeling about OC. This is my favorite quote from the article though.

I might have a chance to get No. 6 when it becomes available. I know they [USC coaches] said they have been talking to Reggie Bush about un-retiring his jersey [No. 5]. If I had a choice, I’d take 7 everywhere. We’ll see

I hope the kid doesn't believe that.

Reggie Bush's number will not come out of retirement.

With all the talk from BB's and Oku's 'mentor,' I've never heard that either one of them is more interested in a jersey number than a career. But, this jersey number obsession just doesn't seem to go away for OC.

Is he superstitious or just hellbent on getting that number?

He also has some very nice things to say about UT's staff, facilities, and ability to get him to the NFL. He also said pro preparation is a huge part of his decision. Finally, he said, "I feel like something is different about Tennessee." Later, he mentions that God will remove the confusion and show him where to go. In that case, I'm glad we're a bit different that USC or UGA.

Is Carroll allowed to call and talk to prospects on his own? I thought it was still a quiet period till spring evaluation period and the prospects had to call the coaches to talk.

Good question. I thought the recruits had to call them at this stage.
