Our chances at Oregon.....

I think we keep it a game with both teams.

I hope you are right.

When looking at talent differentials the only game that I see as being almost an impossibility is Bama. That is until you realize that Bama under Saban has historically had difficulty with an offensive style similar to what I believe Jones would run. I am looking forward to both games, instead of cringing which is what I have become used to.

Kiffin took Bama to the wire in year one. Butch will have the players believing, but he'll use a little more class throughout the year. Yes, I'm comparing Butch with Kiffin except minus the immaturity.

So does every team we play.....Thomas and Mariota are the only 2 that are extraordinarily fast. They just snap the ball quick. It doesnt make their 40 time any faster.

It's funny, that's the only explanation anybody has when talking about how we're gonna get our a$$es kicked. It's not like we're fielding turtles and snails.

I just dont buy into the Oregon hype. They are a good team, but they arent juggernauts.

I don't either. I'm not guaranteeing a victory, but were not gonna get blown out. I just don't see it.

I agree
I am telling you guys our team is much better than people think it is. They just haven't played anywhere near their potential but this year will be different.

There is something special going on up on the Hill and this year our boys will play lights out. It will be night and day from the last three years.

This will be a close ball game.

You do realize those recruiting numbers are someone's subjective opinion when they were 17-18 years old. The game being played isn't subjective and those kids aren't 17-18 any more.

Case in point, your numbers show the qb's as even. That's all you need to know that those numbers don't mean squat.

I've always found recruit rankings pretty comical. I sometimes think 3 & 4 stars are much better than 5 stars. How many times do you see a 5 star carry his press clippings onto the field in college and end up just a journeyman player. It happens way too often. Look at Mariota Oregon's QB, people are talking Heisman about him and he's a 3 star. I've just never put a lot of weight in recruit rankings.

USC typically dominates the recruiting rankings in the PAC-12 and over the last 20 years they don't have a winning record against the Ducks.

Yeah, but they give out way less 5 stars than 3 and 4.

This SO WRONG!!! :loco:

First, Mariota only turns a 4.4 sec 40 so he's not THAT blazing fast. Second, Thomas is fast. I'll agree with that. Tyner runs a 4.3, Marshall runs a 4.38......... And Marshall just may get the nod as the starter over Thomas.

That's just a quick look at the RBs.

Look at Johnny Football. He was a 3*. This place would go into meltdown mode if UT offered a scholly to a 3* QB.

For what it's worth, I just played against Oregon as Tenn on NCAA 2011 when they were ranked 4th. Tennessee got the win 17-14.

So then explain to me how you think Oregon beats us worse than Alabama, if you do not also think that Oregon can beat Bama.

If Oregon out-talents us more than Bama, than they should also beat Bama.

Or, are you saying that Oregon will run up the score and Bama will put on the brakes?

i agree with catbone that this game could be worse on the scoreboard than bama but i could see bama dominating us more and that being the more embarrassing loss....we could play it close with oregon for 3 quarters and they could still win by 28 because of how they score once they get rolling but bama is more of a wear you down and physically dominate kind of team

I've got to believe if Derek Dooley can coach a team for two quarters and stay close to Oregon then Butch Jones can coach one for four and win one.

Butch Jones > Derek Dooley

If we don't lose by 20+ I'll buy everyone who posts in this thread a $50 gift card to Outback Steakhouse

I must say I like your style.

but.... this will be a close ballgame. I predict 7 points or less. I don't know who will win but I think we have a 50/50 chance of pulling off the upset.
