Our Recruiting doesn't look so good all of a sudden

After the totally embarassing rout we were handed by VT New Years Eve, should we not expect top recruits to look for greener pastures.

Humiliatioin on National Television is not the best drawing card for top recruits.:banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:

Did we have either and offensive or defensive game plan for the Chick-fil-a Bowl Game? If we did, I sure couldn't tell it.:realmad:

At halftime, after watching VT take the lead as a result of a UT coaching blunder, my wife told me to smile things could be worse... Well, I smiled and sure enough things got a lot worse.

I don't care what anyone says Crompton looked like garbage before CLK. If you don't see the change that happened in Crompton from the start of this year to now then you weren't watching the games. It's not always about were the players start in college but were they finish. Look at the NFL. You have a ton of guys from colleges you never heard of and ALOT of those 5 star demi-gods are gone because of their complexes. We get some big O-line guys are trust me we're gonna be just fine.

And one other thing, the score of the bowl game doesn't show what really happened. If Moore had of caught the wide open pass it would have been a 6 point game and changed the momentum. We played them straight up for 3 quarters. The last 3 minutes made the score look alot worse. And while some of you are ripping CLK for losing to an number 11 team were you there when we lost to Maryland. My God, I said Maryland.

If the coaching staff at UT can "coach up" this group, then I'm encouraged about the future. By the Feb. 3rd signing day, ANYTHING can happen...witness what CLK & Co. did in recruiting last year. I predict even better results. Don't be surprised by high school kids jumping on the front-runners band wagons during bowl season. It always happens.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but Crompton was a 5* talent who had underachieved. Nobody questioned whether or not he had the tools to improve a whole lot with good coaching.

The only thing that gets me worried, to some extent, is that we end up taking guys who are hard workers but don't have the potential to be great. It won't ever happen, but I do have nightmares of us ending up having to rely on homegrown talent... boys that the locals will root for... kinda like Joey Matthews or BJ Coleman. That's usually a recipe for disaster.

i lol'd...

I hear ya.

We are getting our NEEDS and getting some athletes to make things happen.

Yall that are freaking out over the VT game. WTH?
They are a very good team. We are suffering from key losses at LB. Give Kiffin time and he will have us playing very sound football.

You cant expect a guy to come in and have a championship in year one. He will more than likely will not have one in 2010 unless we get some help like in 07.

Watch out in year 3, hear we come

But we're not taking home grown talent. We're number 6 right now on the list at Rivals. Look at the teams ahead of us. Of those teams only Auburn is not a top winning program right now. Al, FL, TX, Ok have all been BCS players for the last couple of years. We're ahead of alot of other schools who would honestly whip the crap out of us right now. If CLK pulls in another top 10 class that's two top 10 classes in his first year 4 months. CPF didn't do that in his last two. We're headed in the right direction.

I can agree with that

Depending on what site you visit, our rankings differ. I think it will be hard to get in the top 2, with Florida and Texas getting so many highly rated prospects.

I'm more concerned with getting needs and not wants...if we can finish strong on the O-Line and secondary we will be just fine.

Getting Chaz Green, Damien Robinson, Torian Wilson, John Cullen is essential...don't expect to get all of them of course but at least 2.

Riley and Dixon would be great additions to the secondary.

We also need to get at least 2 more LB.

I remember watching us play FL when we had Peyton and Lewis and knowing we would lose even when we had the better team and knowing we would go to the Citrus. Even Zook gave us a run for our money. And if we're comparing coaches from old to new which it seems like the underlying points always lead too then lets not forget the dud we dropped agaisnt LSU in the SEC champ game that cost us the National Champ game. We were suppose to kill that team, now that is why I do not miss CPF at all, one bit, adios, everyone that misses him why's he still not yet hired somewhere else.

Ahmad Dixon
Brandon Willis

Our fans need to realise that especially this year we are recruiting NEEDS not WANTS.
OL and DTs are hard spots to evaulate. So is the LB position.

Look at Michael Taylor. Beaststud, but if you went by his Rivals Rankings you would just think he is another flower in a bed of roses.

You mean Demetrius Wright.

LMAO. I wonder if the same people that have their panties in a wad now will be bragging how they never doubted this staff come NSD? Is there really this many nervous UT fans about our recruiting?

NOTICE...I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THE STAFF.
I AM A KIFFIN FAN.
I do believe losing Gran hurt us TODAY and NYE...
but please read before ranting.

I know we have needs....and wants....but you cannot need OL and get them and lose top WR"S with two tons of speed and hope our OL keeps us on field so their wr's don't burn us....now that was just an example.
we are doing fine..
i am just talking espn rankings people

don't go nuts.

i think all would agree that al has a medicore qb and mediocre air game and they did knock the daylights out of fl. You have a stelar defense great o-line and a great running back and you wear the other team down. It has worked fine for bama and worked really well for the huskers back in the 90's with tommy frazier when they destroyed spurriers high flying wide receivers. But on a side note, you need two great wide receivers on the field at all times, one to go long, one over the middle, and a te as an out, and I believe we have signed enough to meet those needs.

I think there probably are that many because most of these people have never watched recruiting this closely. If you worry about every rumor and/or every verbal commitment(and what ESPN has to say about it), you better call your Dr. and get him to prescribe enough xanax.

We'll get a top 5 class.

I also think a lot of UF commits have got to be doing some soul searching. If a player came out and said he's quitting one day, but then changed him mind the next, there's no way a decent coach would trust his team's fate in that player again.

No player should trust a coach who quits one day and returns in less than 24 hours.

Moreover, even if he stays, Urban Meyer must be the biggest jerk of a coach for whom anyone could play.

If you are a UF commit, you need to reconsider your decision. It's not too late... yet.

Wasn't this time last year we was rated at about 16 or 17 and end up at 10 on signing day or soon afterwards . I feel like we will end up in the top 5 on signing day . As for the UA game it was a ESPN hosted game and they will show all there love for Bama , FL, and Texas .....
