Our Recruiting doesn't look so good all of a sudden

Guys and gals I think just by watching the Under Armour game you should realize that recruit ratings mean absolutely nothing. Until you put a kid in college against college level competition you don't know what you have. A 5 star may not be that good at all and a 3 star could develop into a superstar. Don't get too caught up in rankings. I really didn't see any kids in that game that really stood out. This years class may not be as talented as advertised coming in but with the right coaching may be developed into something special. I think we have the coaches to do that...

I think what has happened at Fla in recent weeks will affect recruiting the next two years a lot more than this year.... even tho it did affect some this year

That may be true because I suspect a LOT more dirt is going to follow. That dirt may be after NSD, however, as I suspect the current positioning of the issue is driven by UF's desire to keep the current class committed until they can fix their problems.

If I was a UF commit, I wouldn't sign on NSD, but wait a bit as Bryce Brown did last year and be deliberate in your decision. Otherwise, I'd sign with someone else. The whole transfer issue is just too much of a headache for great players to risk with a coach who may quit and leave his staff and team hanging in the balance at any moment. What CUM did was just wrong for all concerned.

Don't get me wrong. I want him to stay and take the whippings he has coming from Kiffin and Saban. I've expected he'd crack under the pressure of losing, I just thought he'd wait until that actually happens. If he stays, it will happen. He's correct to worry.

CUM isn't going anywhere.
attenion whore was jealous that they were talking about kiffin at sec championship game and needed to hear his name on tv to boost his ego.

I hope you're right. There's nothing I look forward to more than watching CUM fold after Tebow is gone. I prefer that to be more like Chinese torture... just a little drip at a time until the whole program collapses.

What I saw today was ESPN can not judge talent at all. Sorry but Hicks, Luc, and Joyner looked really overrated out there. Even Dyer did not look like a 5 star RB. A RB needs to put the shoulder down to run through players. In the first quarter he let Dorsey get under him, flip him and then fumbled.

For UT James and Taylor looked really good out there.

I agree with you on Hicks, Luc, and Joyner.

There is a reason Hubbs is saying we will finish with a top 5 class and a reason the Rivals guys have been saying UT is a dark horse for the #1 class. The #1 class won't happen now, but we will finish VERY strong...

Yea, most of those quotes are from before we lost out on people like Luc and some others.

I am not saying we end up with a bad class, we have a great group already but there is no meat on the bone at this point.

We will lose Willis, get Green and by the rankings thats a wash.

We should end up with Cullen but other than that we are not going to see ANY highly rated guys pull the trigger. There are not many other options to push us up the rankings.

Torrian Wilson, not likely to happen.
James Stone, my guess is hes a Turd.
Lemmonier, not looking good.
Damien Robinson, who knows.

Outside of those 4, we have no other legit options in the Rivals 250 so we are left with what? The theory that we will steal someone? I dont buy into that at all. This staff is supposed to be the hardest working etc etc, but we have taken too many hits and I think they are stalling out.

Gran gone, timely negative attention, Bowden stepping down. Its like someone out there is just against Kiffin and things working out.

I want to see one of these "quotes" about UT being a dark horse. Specifically any AFTER Luc and some of the others made their decisions. Before Luc went to FSU we did have a lot of buzz but since then its all been negative.

Go look at LV's thread about Jan 15 visitors. There are plenty of kids already committed to other schools that are wavering. There is plenty of reason, as LV said, that we will move up.

And anyone thinking Florida is going to implode now, was apparently not watching the same game I was today. That was a statement if I have ever seen one.

Funny, that when our commits go on those visits they are just taking visits but if they come here they are wavering right?

There's your problem.

What else are you going to look at? Rivals?

The same site that has Dowling as a 3 star player? That is a joke. He could of easily of been the MVP of the game today. The guy is probably the best safety in this entire class, he is a true ballhawk.

There are flaws with both Rivals' and ESPN's rankings but i think ESPN had most of theirs right today.

Jordan Hicks is a great player. You can't base your judgement on 1 game. The guy can flat out play.

If you have the ability to take what CPF left us and almost beat the eventual NC, then having a top 10 class two years running should be enough to get back in the top 25 next year. If we can not win 9 or 10 games next year, then we can start worrying.

GO VOLS!

Not really. CLK encourages them to take visits. I do not see UF encouraging Dorsey to visit elsewhere. A&M is not wanting Nelson to visit TN. UGA sure as hell does not want TN anywhere near Ogletree.

If the coaches were not happy with where they stood with certain guys or where they are headed, they would ot be turning away some of the kids that they have turned away.

If you honestly expect 9 - 10 wins next year, then by all means go ahead and start worrying. We lose a lot of pivotal seniors and at least 1 junior to the draft. We'll be starting a new QB, 4 new OL, and a new RB on offense. On defense we lose our top tackler at LB, both starting DT's (one of which is projected as a first round pick), the best safety in the game, and possibly our best corner if he decides to declare. Added to that our schedule is even harder next year.

Just left Rivals. We're still ranked #6. I put no more stock in recruiting ranking than I do the top 25 poll but thought some might like to hear this.

I have a lot more faith in Orgeron than ESPN when it comes to evaluating talent.

Hubbs said like 3 days ago we will have a top 5 class and he is the most conservative Mod/analyst that you will ever find. He knows we are in on a bunch of players and will get our share. We set well with Dixon, Robey, and Robinson. We have a ton of big time players visiting all throughout January who are mostly uncommitted. Don't be so negative all the time, we will finish very strong. Watch...

Uh...yeah. By the way, I'm not too impressed by those interceptions today. The QB play was terrible. The defense is almost always going to thrive in these all-star games. Not to mention that Dowling has the physique of a 14 year old. There's also a lot more to playing safety than being a "ballhawk".

I didn't say anything about Jordan Hicks. I'm sure he will be an excellent player at the next level.

Not to mention that ESPN has Michael Dyer ahead of Lattimore and Seastrunk. In addition to this, Mack Brown and Storm Johnson (yes I said STORM JOHNSON) are also ahead of Seastrunk. That's a JOKE! There's a common denominator here. Dyer, Brown, and Johnson were all in the Under Armour game which just so happens to air on ESPN. Lattimore and Seastrunk(the class of the group) are in the Army All-American game which airs on NBC. Bottom line is that TV ratings are more important for ESPN than the integrity of their rankings. They want to be able to say that all the top players are in the game that airs on their network. So, you can choose to believe that ESPN's rankings are the gospel, but I'm going to put more stock in what Rivals says.

Not negative, just realistic. I try not to look at things as a homer, especially in recruiting because it only sets you up for a let down. I will be happy with a top 10 class AS LONG AS we fill needs like OL and secondary especially.

Hey folks i haven't posted in a long time work hasn't permitted . i love reading all the post when i get time as always ther are always savy football minds on here.

This class dose not need to be a to 5 class but i think we will fill our most glaring needs O-LINE & D-LINE & LINEBACKERS and a another safty or 2
and it looks like we are going to fill some skill positions as well . thease coaches know how to
pick players ill bet the farm right now we hit on
97% of this first full class.
