Do you sell tickets to this dream world you live in?
For those who are saying Nirvana ia overrated, i think you could make a strong argument with their body of work, but when you factor in thier influence on the music landscape and the culture change of young people in the 90's, i think it's hard to say they are overrated.
Let's not forget the wild card in this, Dave Grohl, who is one of the best drummers out there and has done quite well for himself.
They're hot and cold. Some great albums and some worthless ones. The 90's stuff was all much better in my opinion.
Agreed, the last album was not too impressive, what i have noticed with this band is when Dave is about to start a side project the current album suffers.
The self titled album is still my favorite, the fact he did that whole album himself, lyrics, vocals, drums and guitar blows my mind.

Name a better band that came out in the last 20 years.
Pearl Jam has made some of the most influential and meaningful music released since their inception.
They continue to produce an amazing product to this very day.
I have been to a ton of concerts, seen them twice and they are far and away the best live band that I have ever seen.
You can thank the media on the influence factor...I like Nirvana but lets call a spade a spade here.
When you stack them against the other bands that came out during that time, they are mediocre.
Who knows how it would have played out had Kurt not committed suicide.
The whole Grunge scene just got way out of hand, capitalism at its finest.
I would put the bands you mentioned above Nirvana as well. The Pixies should have got alot more love from the mainstream as much as Nirvana has received IMO. It's just the cycle of the music industry we have seen since the invent of rock n roll. Look at what sort of poser like sterotypes Punk pushed out the past 20 years. We have a store in the mall that symbolizes that called Hot Topic. Where all the goth and emo kids can feel special and different.
