Overrated Bands

There is a band called The Rolling Stones that sell out stadiums and charge a war pension to do so.

Meanwhile, KOL plays gigs like The Civic and probably couldn't sell it out for 30$ a ticket without a strong opening act.

I love Pearl Jam and will be a little biased in my assessments , your love of KOL is making you say crazy things like biggest band in the world.

Of course. If Led Zeppelin got together for a tour, people would be selling houses for tickets.

This probably wont be popular, but I think the Beatles are overrated. I just don't think their music holds up that well.

I don't hear them played on most rock stations at all, mainly soft rock stations. You compare them to the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin, you can hear daily on rock stations.

Kings of Leon will never be the biggest band in the world, retract that statement of lose all credibility.

If you think they are a better band, that is your opinion, no matter how warped it is.

that went out the window when he claimed Death Cab better than PJ.

apparently you didn't bother reading the whole thread.

Let the record reflect that dude is officially putting words in my mouth. Go back and look at how I phrased it and then try to refute the statement.

This is just silly. I do like KOL...but that has nothing to do with the question of whether they are a major headlining act. They are. They haven't opened for another band in quite some time, and they sell out major venues and this has been the case for a while.

So you are saying that The Rolling Stones are the biggest band in the world? Or are you not going to answer that question?

I agree with the statement. Of the three you mentioned, Led Zeppelin has held up the best over time.

footsteps is actually vedder's take on times of trouble. same music anyway...

It's actually part of a series of songs that make one story.

" Alive " where he finds out his dad isn't really his dad...' Once " where he loses his mind and goes crazy and " Footsteps " where he is dealing with what he has done.

You said " most popular " really the same thing, is it not?

You tell me, man. First, how about trying to refute the statement that KOL was the most popular band, by various measurably objective criteria, in the calendar year 2009.

If you are unable to refute that statement, then maybe we can get back on the same page. Because it seems like we're just talking right past each other.

The Beatles by any measure imaginable are the greatest band of all-time and will remain so.

I don't think that they are the " greatest " ever, that goes to LZ, IMO.

Most people judge Pearl Jam based on what they hear on the radio, their b-sides are better than what most bands could ever produce.

I'm having a hard time buying this. If the songs were so good they would have made the cut and been on albums not b-sides. This goes for any band not just PJ.

I'm confused. Are you saying The Beatles are better than Led Zeppelin, or vice versa?

Coldplay...more records sold and a lot more asses in seats.

Most bands are pathetic...therefore Pearl Jam's worst is better than what most bands are proud to put out.

KOL seems to be mimicking M.Night Shyamalan. Starts off great but gets worse with each release.

I like " Only By The Night ", good album...I see them selling out big time on their next effort, just a feeling.

What does "selling out" mean?

I'm pretty sure KOL isn't going to bring in Fergie as a member of the band, if that's what you're getting at.

I've always kind of wondered the same thing. I remember back when people were pissed at Brandon Boyd and calling them sellouts just because he cut his hair. people are dumb.
