They're pretty good IMO, but too radio-friendly. Listen to their stuff from the early-mid 80's. You'll change your tune.Red hot chili peppers. Linkin park.

You have to appreciate that they may be one of the only commercially successful bands in the last 15 years to actually have any real conviction in the music they make.I love RATM, but I hate their politics.
Not so much that as stopping drug use and signing with a major label... In fact, that's what kills a lot of good bands. See: new Stone Temple Pilots stuff.thats exactly what killed GreenDay
Damn, I got to the third page and thought I was gonna have it with this. Not only in terms of musical quality, but their alleged "importance to the history of rock music." It's a bunch of BS IMO, hair metal was already on the way out and music would have moved on to alt metal with or without Nirvana. To me they have never been more than just another okay grunge band. I far prefer The Melvins and The Pixies from that era/genre (roughly).Nirvana
I disagree. I don't like soccer at all, but I respect it has a sport. I don't like rap very much, but I think people like Jay-Z and Eminem are uber talented.

They sure were a big deal to me in 1991 till he killed himself. Maybe looking back to a casual fan of music, they werent a big deal. But, to a kid in middle school, watching those videos and buying those albums...They were the ONLY band.I couldn't agree more but there is one more piece to the puzzle. Most of their "importance" is wrapped up in the fact that Cobain killed himself. If he was still alive, Nirvana wouldn't be that big of a deal.

JMO!
But I hate soccer and have no respect for the sport whatsoever. See? Relative to me and differing of opinion to you. Who determines if one of us is right over the other? As I said, its not scientific fact.
I only posted because Metallica is the shiznittle in MY OPINION. Like any thread that tries to say this or that is the best, you will never have a right answer because there is no way to actually prove it

Widespread Panic
Jay-Z
Radiohead (although Karma Police is an incredible song)
Lil Wayne
The Rolling Stones (although Beast of Burden is an incredible song)
Bruce Springsteen
The Beatles (yes, I think the Beatles are overrated. Before you curse me up and down, do a little self-test. Think about how many Beatles songs you would put on a playlist. Now think about how many Led Zeppelin or Bob Marley songs, for example, you would put on a playlist. If you're being honest and you're not totally lame, the difference between the latter and the former wil be substantial, and it illustrates a point. The Beatles music hasn't stood the test of time. Thus, it was never that good in the first place. Thus, they are wildly overrated.).
