Pay to Vote

his grandmother should also not have been allowed to vote

You don't remember my who should be allowed to vote thread do you?

Pull it up and quit putting words in my mouth PJ. It's not cool.

I said, and it's on this site archived, that anyone over 30could vote. The buy in is a side item. There are things that override the buy in. You own land, you own a business, you are 30 or older and have a job, you are ex military and you dont need a buy in. You want to vote before that or dont qualify you need a buy in.

Kinda like if your not a member of a golf course but want to pay to play.

Then the draft age starts at 30.

So it's ok to be drafted at 18 and not drink a beer?

It's ok to pay taxes at 16 and not be allowed to vote?

It's ok to have the voting age set at 18 which is age discrimination?

These three are all legal and on the books.

But changing the voting age to 30 and employed unless they are ex military, own land, or own a business ... now thats just wacky?

they can drink if in the military right?

at 16 you're getting them back anyway

it's the age set as an adult and is a different thing than what you're proposing. Yours are arbitrary based on your own life and are pretty much elitist. Not really what the US is built on

Trying to limit the voices and the political power of persons simply because you disagree with their views and/or lifestyles is ridiculous. If you are that worried, that the majority of Americans are going to vote this country into a disaster, presumably because the politicians only pander to the poor and the lazy, then run for office yourself or leave and find a different country.

You really want to improve the quality of elected officials, then push for more Congressman; push for Senators to be appointed by the States; push for the President to be elected by the Electoral College, as it was originally set up.

Ok now you're just lying.

The country was formed by a bunch of slave owners, who got pissed off at being under British rule, and came here to create their own country. This country was formed by a group of men that most of you would call white supremacist who only wanted land owners to vote. I'm not for any of that but dont start lying now.

So I was a racist in the other thread? Now I'm an elitist? Nice PJ. Nice.

I thought you could drink/buy alcohol on base. For some reason that was stuck in my head

Used to be that way some time ago. Maybe it changed. Or, drinking laws in general may have changed. 18 used to be the age in some states.

That went out the door before I entered the service. It is pretty ridiculous that an 18 year old can be considered man enough to fight and die in his nation's wars, yet cannot relax and have a beer, though.

I am pretty sure that Mothers Against Drunk Driving made the substantial push to increase the drinking age to 21 on military posts.

I never called anything racist so you're a liar. I'm sorry I don't view a company paying kids $10/hr to bug people during dinner as a qualification for higher office

Your proposals are very similar to ones that were in place 200 years ago though.

You're taking personal shots now, huh?

I also gave them a raise to 12 because my taxes didnt change and you forgot to slam me on the fact I own a few insurance agencies too. Don't forget that one. Go for it PJ.
