Pearl Grants Griffith's Wish

I think his lack of athleticism is making the speed of the game too much for him.

Couple bad mechanics with rushing to meet the speed of the game and you have a recipe for inconsistency.

I'll buy both this and what BPV is saying.

You can actually see him panic when a ball is thrown his way with a defender near.

Until the game slows down for him, if ever, he's going to struggle mightily.

I'll buy that. I still think some of it is mental though.

I have and I do. Do the 1's and the 2's not practice against one anothe?

Not always. Also, if not Tyler, who else is going to put up a strong defensive effort in practice.

This team shows very little effort in games, so why would practices be overly intense?

no it isn't. It's that he has very limited athletic ability, so he's limited to shooting. As a shooter, he has a left body lean when he goes up and that will breed enormous inconsistency. If our staff doesn't address it, he'll keep throwing bricks.

Lofton had a lean and a fade. Many shooters do. It still allows you to get arc. McBee's problem is that he jumps towards the rim on his shot, therefore decreasing the angles of opportunity for the ball to go into the rim. That's why he gets fouled too. He will never be consistent as long as he is jumping to the rim on his J.

His shooting pocket was perfect though.

Then why are you okay with putting him in at PG?

I'm Ok with whatever is going to get this team going again. He isn't starting, he is Goins backup. He did well earlier in the year playing in place of Goins. I want the team to get better. Pearl knows how to do that better than me or anyone here. Let him do it.

I don't care the cause, if you're inconsistent you are not a great shooter, period. He obviously isn't a great athlete, or even a good one.

Why is he not a great athlete? Because he is country and white? I believe he played QB? Safety? He has guarded well at times, including Kimba Walker. He had 9 pts and 6 rebs in a recent game. I don't think he is the answer but the bs of him not being athletic is nonsense. He just needs to relax and not try so hard.

Lofton was the most unorthodox great shooter ever. The vast majority have a straight line from the balls of their right foot through their hips and up through a vertical right arm and with a slightly pronated shooting hand with the first two fingers point right to the middle of the rim. That's why they rarely miss left and right. They don't all look the same, but the vast majority has this linear relationship down so there is no timing involved in making the ball go deadly straight every time.

McBee doesn't jump toward the rim. He jumps left. Hell, a lot of guys have jumped toward the rim. Steve Kerr still does to this day. Lateral movement is the killer of shooters.

Are you at every practice? Do you know who defends who and when? I'm just curious.

How dare anyone question Pearl? Noted.

Be careful, remotely agreeing with me will get you flammed here.

Yea that's it. He's a cracker.

Problem solved.

Yes. Very little movement and none wasted. Skylar also has to cut down on his moving parts for his shot and get the ball up before he jumps. He seems to jump to the rim, as he is bringing the ball up, then recocks it around his forehead, again changing another angle, then releasing. Just too much going on.

Why does it hurt your feelings so much for someone to have a different opinion than you? You don't have to be a smart a$$ just because someone disagrees with you.

He's agreat athlete compared to the average guy. He is an average athlete at that level.

Dude playing the race card is idiotic. You agreeing with that post is even more stupid.
