Pearl Ripped...

Until Pearl brought in the casual fans who don't know if the ball is stuffed or inflated,I had never had the person next to me ask if ETSU was an SEC team. This program was doing really well at the end of Mears' tenure throught DeVoe's first five years. You never had people in Stokely worried about getting to 85 so they could get free fast foods. Those crowds were there for, what a shock, basketball. The Pearlophiles are the E! Hollywood Story crowd. They don't know the first damn thing about the game. Just there for the circus.

My family has had access to season tickets since 1989. I have seen Allan Houston's awesomeness, CJ Black's aggressiveness, Ron Slay's comedy, and Marcus Haislip's dunks. I also saw my share of the Jay Prices and Jenis Grindstaffs of the world, the awful Buzz Peterson, and early postseason exits. My allegiance is to the Vols and I will support them no matter the coach.

That being said: I like Pearl. I don't want him fired. I think the NCAA are hypocritical pencilneck paper-pushers. It bothers me none what they have to say about anyone or anything, whether that is AJ Green, Dez Bryant, Enes Canter, SMU, Miami, Kentucky... or Bruce Pearl.

Your omission of Jersey Shore off that list makes me think you are not bringing your A game today.
I'm not sure MTV will be able to continue to meet J-Wow and Sammie's demands. The show may not still be in production by the time Pearl gets run this spring.

The guy from The Sporting News? I've yet to see him slam Pearl, but I've not seen him defend him either. What am I missing?
He came on one of the local radio programs and said he didn't think it made sense for UT to fire Pearl and they should ride out the storm. DeCourcy is great. I just don't agree with him on the idea that UT has to keep Pearl at any cost.

Just turned on the TV to see the BP Show. Speaking of Jersey Shore, Bruce looks like he got dragged in there from an all night bender with the cast of that show.

I had no idea that green apple Smirnoff was so expensive.

I'm not criticizing anyone's opinion, but there are constantly a few select posters who just praise all negative things about UT and defend all things concerning our competition. It's just frustrating when they insist that they are all Vol. I'm not saying that they're not, but come on, how about a little support?

ah did not know that. I really don't care what the program does. As you well know I'm not a UT bball fan, but with everything the AD as a whole is going through, having a coach that lied to the 'AA just screams bad. Every move UT makes for the foreseeable future will be watched as long as he is there. That includes football, baseball, track and field, tennis, golf, softball, women's bball, you get the idea.

I can believe how many sheep for fans we have

is that on purpose? For me though, I've never been a UT bball fan. Didn't like Wade Houston as a kid and took my allegiances elsewhere. I'm not saying what I did was right, but I made the decision and have stuck with it for over 20 years now.

Kudos to you for keeping with it, though.

you would have to be deaf, dumb, and blind not to notice that....same posters seem to have problems with simply criticizing and have a need to get into gay cat-fighting(ie, frequent references to men's underwear)...

By the Gameday crew.

Jay Bilas seems to have a pretty solid view on the situation.

I could care less what people on TV, other team's fans or even what some of our own fan's think about our coach.

If he cheated I may feel different but i think he didnt follow the exact letter or the rules but very different than cheating.

I could care less that he lied to an organization that I have no respect for.

If the NCAA hammers us bad enough that we need to fire him then we should fire him.

If our basketball team starts to lose basketball games and not making the tournament then we should fire.

Until then I stand 100% behind our coach and will cheer full throttle for my Vols!!

GO VOLS!!!

So it seems that Bilas' objection to Slive's intrusion is the possibility that it may somewhat appease the NCAA from giving Pearl a harsher punishment.
