Pearls replacement

Go back to your fantasy world where championship coaches memorize the NCAA rule book and where we fire a dirty guy only to hire another guy who's going to do what it takes to win. LOL you're totally clueless it's funny, unlike your tired ass attempts at insulting me.

We don't have a championship coach that has won anything substanial at UT in basketball.

I'm going to assume you mean if he's gone now or at the end of the '10-'11. If that's case here would be the five guys I'd pursue.

1. Gregg Marshall. Should have been hired when UT brought in Buzz Peterson. He's going to win huge at Wichita this season. He'd walk to Tennessee to take the job.
2. Mike Anderson. Arkansas is still paying the price for not making him the permanent replacement for Nolan Richardson. He's content at Mizzou, but paying him what Pearl's making would make him listen.
3. Frank Martin. I'm still stunned at how good a head coach he's turned out to be. UT could certainly out spend K State.
4. Chris Mooney. This assumes Richmond is as good as expected again this year. He's won at tough spots. He'd take the job in a heartbeat.
5. Rick Majerus. This is just a gut feeling. Can't believe Majerus doesn't want one more shot at a program where he can make real national noise. Any number of guys could be in this slot.
I know you don't like Pearl personally, but as far as coaching ability, how do you think he compares to these guys?

I'd take Marshall, Anderson, and Majerus over him in a heartbeat. I don't think you'd lose anything replacing him with Martin or Mooney.

That totally matters. Great point.

So it doesn't matter that your hero is a damn flake with an elephant size target on his back? come off of it?

Youre a great example of the group of invalids that a good chest painting brought to TBA.

Earlier in this thread ZJC was talking about Frank Martin. I agreed with him and initially told him he was one of my top 5 active coaches. I guess I typed before I thought about it; but, it has got me thinking... I wanted to start a thread "Top 10 Active Coaches in College Basketball", but I can't because where I am new I have to have at least 20 posts to start a thread. Could anybody start this for me? lol I think it would be something interesting to think about as well as look at others thoughts on it.

Who would you personally choose to replace him? Who's the guy you give the keys to, or force him to tell you no?

Do you think that your list in any way resembles the actual list of folks who will be seriously considered (read: I don't recall anyone listing Dooley's name on similiar lists, following Kiffin's departure.....look how that turned out)? In other words, which of those on your list should be looked at, but likely won't be, if any?

If not, which candidates do you most fear they'll go after, and of those, who's the worst you would want to see take the job?

Which candidates (if contacted) might surprise us by expressing serious interest, that we otherwise thought would not likely be?

If no new information comes to the surface in the way of violations, and Tennessee doesn't get hit with LOIC and more severe penalties than those they've self-imposed:

1. Odds that Pearl survives and continues at Tennessee for two (2) more seasons?

2. Odds that Hammy survives and continues at Tennessee for two (2) more seasons?

I'll hang up and listen, and G,S,M to your answers, in advance.

D, the the chance of Hammy sticking around for 2 years are zero, i would have to wait and see what else happens with Pearl to speculate on that, but right now it looks pretty bad

I'd go with Marshall. I'd also be stunned if he wasn't on the list if UT had an opening.
If Tennessee even considered hiring Scott Drew, I'd advocate burning TBA to the ground.
Andy Kennedy and Rick Stansbury would both come to Tennessee in a heartbeat if asked.

1. 50-50.
2. Hamilton's fate will be decided by football. Thus, I'd say 20-80.

Thanks, Emain.

I've heard Hammy's hock is already cooked, and is under the warming lamps.

Why don't you take a shot at them, Johnny.

I'd be interested to hear your response, as well.

Honestly, any answer I would give would probably be no more informed than you on these topics.

This thing could just as easily turn out alright as it could totally blow up.

When you mentioned Majerus earlier you got me to thinking. What about Tubby Smith? I just cannot believe he's happy with the Gophers.

While I know next to nothing about basketball, I don't like the thought of taking Kentucky's cast-offs, and I'd prefer someone slightly younger.
