Pelosi visit to Taiwan

SPAR20, USAF C-40C (737 variant) just passed the southern tip of Kyushu (Japan) and headed directly toward Taiwan. There was an article in the past day saying the Vodka Express was on a C-40 called SPAR19, so probably a good chance Pelosi (or a delegation) is headed in the Taiwan direction right now.

Looks like it is headed to Manila.

This is Grudenesque. They are not leaving their transponders on. If she goes we will be the last to know

I doubt they turn the transponder off While enroute to Manila. If she goes to Taiwan tomorrow I believe they won’t turn it off then either. We are the greatest military in the world and we don’t sneak into places we aren’t conducting military activity in.

She is not even on the plane you are tracking

I don’t know if she is or isn’t and never claimed to know. I was replying to AM64’s post regarding SPAR 20, which he was tracking.

SPAR20 is near Malaysia - maybe headed for Singapore. SPAR19 left Singapore earlier and disappeared, so who knows. Maybe it's a shell game. Funny thing is there was a US F-16 over Taiwan earlier and a WB-57 (NASA markings) just past Okinawa and headed SW. The B-57 had been cruising at over 50,000 ft - now descending. Makes you wonder if some stuff is coincidental or mind games.

Are there anymore functional SR-71s? Then we could really screw with them.

Most of what I've read says there are not, but who really knows. SR-71s flew out of Okinawa when I was stationed there (mid-1968 through Spring 1970); I only saw a couple in the air - but many times on the ground when I was driving from the shop to Hawk sites. The funny part about that is the SR-71 hangers were at the end of the runway, and the main road up the west side of the island was sandwiched between the end of the Kadena runways and the E China Sea. You would have thought the location would be far more secluded. Wish I'd snapped some pictures, but cameras were forbidden on the Hawk sites, and we drove up to the radars we were working on.

We won’t do anything anyway if China invades Taiwan which they will. Sorry to break it to you Taiwan but we won’t back you up.

I read that; the statement "highly reconfigurable" got my attention. You always wonder in certain parts of the world what "reconnaissance" and "data gathering" really mean. B-57s are really old airplanes. My brother flew EB-57s in the early '70s before moving to F-106s and then F-15s. He got one B-57 back on the ground, but it was written off. He had an engine fire on takeoff, and did a quick return. The guys on the ground said it looked like a ball of flame on the approach. He said if they had seen that, they might have ejected instead of landing - the fire almost burned through the brake and hydraulic lines.

Wait! What have you heard?
